FRAN-x' n. ` further obi'ect of In invention is the provision vof, a double lclasp buckle for elastic hands vvwhich Will'-atl'ord long leverage on'the clamping members but which maybe ar-y ranged in a compact manner coiive'nient and comfortable to the wearer.
@they objects of my invention willbecome4 apparent.. in Vthe followingA description referring. to the Vaccompanying drawings' lillust1-ating` a `preterred embodiment thereofL- The essential chaiacteristics:arev summarized? in the claims.

My invention contemplates a double "clanipu-'rl ing buckle structure which may b'e. applied to the free ends of sleeve or garterband's inV a very simple manner, and particularly, bands of the prevailing shirred style Wherein the elastic iscompletel covered by outer layers of tucked or gathered materiah Such bands are considerably thicker and more irregular than the usual flat elastic band heretorpore used, and to obtain a buckle Which will permit a quick insertion or' the ]agged thick ends ot such a band, and etectively hold them and at the same time shall be comfortable and y nvention is,I directed to the provisiouoif a double clamping' buckle which, while being'- neat in appearance, in-V neat in' appearance' is a". problemvvhich I f Iniaccomplils'llinu@ Iny'l V'bj'e'ct I providleai body 1'() alndtuo c amping members y1I and" 1Q, hinged thereto. These ends are turned inwardly to insure comfort to the wearer of the elastic band and the back l portioiisf of the members 11 and 12 are inspectively overlie the clamping members 12 and l1. I-Ience each lever portion tends to react on the other clamping member and also prevent-s the opening of the buckle when the elastic band and buckle are in position on 1' the wearer.
From the foregoing description of my invention 4it will be seen that a buckle structure such as I herein set forth may have the exposed contour thereof of an artistic shape and that such shape is' advantageous in that a maximum clearance may be presented between the body of the buckle and the jaws of the clamping members. It will also be apparent that the clamping `members may be of a I maXimumover-alldimension to 'afford a ready manipulation thereof in both the closing and opening of the buckle.` These clamping members may be constructed in such manner as to present a substantially flat back to the buckle with all metallic edges of the buckle vsubdued to prevent irritation to the wearer. rIhe relationship of the clamping contour to the body contour is such that the elastic band when onceclamped by the clamping members, cannot cause an opening movement of the clamping members by reason of the overhang thereof relative to the body edges but on the other hand tends to more firmly clamp the bulky j material comprising the elastic band.
Having thus described my invention, I claim l.. In a buckle, the combination of a body and a pair of clamping members each clamping member having a back flange from a portion of which adjacent one end only extends a lever arm overhanglng the other clamping member, each back flange being indented at theplace of the overlapping of the lever portionsv of the clamping members.
2. In a buckle, the combination of a bow shaped body having a pair of concavely formed edges, a pairof clamping members pivotally connected to the body, said clamping members having conveXly formed edges conforming to the contour and the concavity of the body edges when in a clamping posi-` tion.
3. `In a buckle of the character described,
the combination offa body member having parallel flanges formed along twoV edges thereof, saidbody member having two other edges concavely formed, a pair of'clamping members pivotally connected to the flanges of the body member, said clamping members having j aw flanges conforming to the contour of the concave edges of the body when closed.
4. In a buckle, the combination of a buckle body having a concave edge and a clamping member pivotally connected to the. body and formed with a surface concave in an opposite ving an arm adapted to overlap the other, said clamping members having jaws the outer surface of which is concave and the edge of which is'conveX to conform tothe contour of the body when closed.
6. In a. buckle, the combination of `a pair of clamping members, said clamping members having jaws the outer surface of which are `concavely formed and a bowed body member t0 which the clamping members are pivotally attached, the gripping edges of the jaws being formed to'overhang the edges of the body member by a distance considerably less than the thickness of the material adapted to be clasped by the buckle.
7. In a buckle of the character'described, the combination of a flanged body member, having concave edges extending between the flanges, and a pair of clamping members pivotally attached to the flanges, each of said clamping members having a clamping' jaw thereon provided with a surface concaved toward the body when the buckle is open, the edge of said jaw being convex and adapted to overhang the adjacent concave edge on the body member and be substantially parallel therewith when the buckle-is closed and each clamping member having an arm adjacent one end and adapted to overhang the other clamping member. y
In testimony whereof, I hereunto affix my signature. j
