Thus when the latch device is pressed inwardly, the strip C is held against movement so that the necktie will be properly supported in position. The extremities of the strip G are passed within the folds of the part A of the necktie and the edges of these folds are then fastened together by a snap fastener or button 8, as shown in Figure 4.

A strip 9 of heavy material is placed in the upper part of the body A to hold the same in shape, the upper end of this strip passing over the member 1.

Thus it will be seen that I have provided means whereby a necktie can be easily and quickly adjusted on a collar without necessitating the tying and untying of the tie, which soon damages the tie, with means inserted in the latter, a knot forming portion for the tie folded around the top portion of the tie body and around the top portion of the hollow member and having the ends thereof secured together and one edge folded into the top of the hollow member, a substantially V-shaped wedge member inserted in the hollow member for compressing portions of the tie body and knot forming member into said hollow member, a latch pivoted between the sides of the hollow member and having angle ends, and a neck band having its ends passed through the wedge and hollow member and contacted by the ends of the latch for holding the band to the hollow member.

whereby the members 1 and 5 can be easily and quickly removed from one necktie and attached to another tie. This invention also enables the knot portion of the tie to be formed of different material or material of a different color from that forming the body of the tie.

It is thought from the foregoing description that the advantages and novel features of the invention will be readily apparent.

It is to be understood that changes may be made in the construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, provided that such changes fall within the scope of the appended claims.

What I claim is 1. A necktie comprising a hollow member tapering from each end to its center, a tie body provided with folds and having the upper portion thereof covering the front and sides of the hollow member, a knot forming portion covering the upper portion of the tie body and the upper portion of the hollow member with the ends thereof secured together at the rear of said hollow member, said knot forming portion extending over one edge of said hollow member and disposed against the inner face thereof, a neck band having the ends thereof passing through the hollow member, a latch means for pressing portions of the neck band against the hollow member, a wedge member in the upper part of the hollow member for clamping a portion of the knot forming portion in the hollow member, the free ends of the neck band entering the folds of the tie body, and means for connecting the edges of the folds together to hold said ends of the neck band in place.
