To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, LiscoM MoWBY, of Minneapolis, Minnesota, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Packing Flour; and I hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, making a part of this specification, in which- Figure 1 is a perspective view of a'flourbarrel with one head removed. Fig. 2 is a vertical section of the same.
My invention relates to the packing of flour in barrels; and it consists in a novel method of packing, whereby I am enabled to protect the flour from the dirt that usually enters through open joints or when the heading is removed.
In order that those skilled in the art may make and use my invention, I will proceed to describe the exact manner in which I have carried it out.
In the said drawings, A represents an ordinary flour-barrel. Inside of this barrel, and
conforming to its shape and size, as near as possible, I place a bag-lining, 13, made of any suitable textile fabric, and of sufficient length to lie over the top of the barrel during the process of packing the flour. The top of the lining may be arranged with a draw-string, to draw the mouth together after the flour has been packed, or the top may be gathered up and tied like the mouth of an ordinary sack, as shown at a. When the proper quantity of flour has been packed in the barrel, the mouth 'I'claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
An article of commerce, consisting of flour packed within a barrel lined with fibrous material, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
