'Application filed October My inflprkovedv paper holder is especially de signed for holding sheets of wrapping paper although desirable for use in holding sheets of paperof any character which it is desired to .support so that they may-be easily grasped.
The main objects of the invention are: First, to provide an improved paper holder which supports the sheets so that they may be conveniently grasped and removed one by one and at the saine time the. sheets are effectively protected. A
Seconchto provide an improved paper holder and package which is compact and may be used as ashipping packagejas well as Aa disy 9 is laid upon the blank as shown in Fig. 3.
pensing package. I
Objects pertaining to details and economies of my invention will deiinitelv appear from the detailed description to follow. The invention is clearly defined and pointed out in the claims.
A paper holder embodying the features of my invention is clearly illustrated in the accompanying drawing forming a part of this application, in which:
Fig. l is a perspective view of mv improved paper holder or carton with a body of sheets an integral blank as illustrated-and comprises a rear wall l, a bottom wall 2, front wall 3 and a top wall 4, the top wall being narrower than the rear wall, the rear bottom and front walls being continuous and the bottom wall being curved when the package is closed. The top wall is narrower than the bottom wall so that when the package is closed the inner edge of the top wall is spaced from the rear wall, as clearly shown in Fig. 2, so that the body of sheets may project between the rear edge of this top wall and the rear wall. The,y
rear wall preferably projects above the top wall to provide a hanger and also to protect the projecting ends of the sheets when the package is arranged for shipment or storage.
The top wall isprovided with an inward- Serial No. u92.
ly projecting flap-like extension y5v which engages within the fold or bightof-a body of sheets folded upon itself and arranged within the holder withv their inner ends abutting the top wall 4 and their outer ends projectl ing between the top wall and therearwall fanned relation to provided with tongues 7 engaged in slits 8` in the front wall thereby closing the ends of,
the package and holding the. parts in proper' relation to support the sheets. i
In closing thevpackage the body offsheets the top 4 and the extension 5 thereon folded upon the sheets as shown in Fig. 4 and the body of sheets then folded as shown in Fig. 2 which causes the sheets to assume the fanned position shown in Fig. 2. The engaging of the'tongues 7 retains the parts in position.
'The sheets may be withdrawn one or 'more at -is provided with a hole l0 for suspending purposes. A
{aving thus described my invention what I claim as new and desire: to secure by Letters Patent is:
l. A paper holder comprising rear, bottom, front and top walls, the rear and front walls diverging downwardly and the bottom wall being curved, the top wall being narrower than the bottom wall, said rear wall being'extended beyond said top wall and having endl wall extensions provided with closure tongues at their front edges, said front wall being slitted toA receive said closure tongues, said top wall having an inwardly projecting sheet holder flap at its inner edge adapted to engage within the fold of a body of sheets folded upon itself. 1
2. A paper holder comp-rising rear, bottom, front and top walls, the rear and front walls diverging downwardly and the bottom wall being curved, the top wall being narrower than the bottom wall, said top wall having an inwardly projecting sheet holder flapat its inner edge adapted to engage within the fold of a body of sheets folded upon itself.
3. A; paper holder comprising rear, bottom,
front and top walls, the rear and front walls diverging downwardly and the bottom wall being curved, the top wall being narrower than the bottom wall and having an inwardly f projecting. sheet holder at its inner edge adapted to engage within the fold of a body of sheets folded 'upon itself and arranged with the inner ends of the sheets abutting said top wall and the outer ends projecting between the top wall and rear wall and projecting above the top wall in fa-nned relation.
4. A paper' holder comprising rear, bottom, front and top walls, the rear and front walls divcrging downwardly and thetop wall having an inwardly projecting' sheet holder adapted to engage within the fold of a body of sheets folded upon itself. F
5. A vpaper package comprising a carton provided with rear, bottoni, front and top walls, the rear and front walls. diverging downwardly and the bottoni wally being curved, the topwall being narrower than the bottoni wall and having an inwardly projecting sheet holder thereon, and a body of sheets arranged in Said carton with said sheet holder engaged within the fold of the sheets, the
inner end of the sheet body being in abutting engagement with the top wall and the outer end thereof projecting between the top wall and the rear walll in fanned relationto facilitate grasping.
6. A paper dispensing package comprising the sheets, and theouter ends thereof project--v ing' between the topfwall and the rear wall.
7. A paper holder comprising rear, bottoni, front and top walls, thel rear and front walls diverging downwardly and the bottoni wall being curved and the inner edge of the top wall being spaced from the rear wall andv having an; inwardly projecting sheet engaging extension thereon. e
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand.
ARCHIBALD I. MCGQLL.
