Dec. 17, 1929. 2. w. RANCK PAPER DISPENSING PACKAGE Filed Feb. 6, 1929 IN VEN TOR fl w: C T W F 6 m a1 Patented Dec. 17, 1929 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE ZEIBER W. RANCK, OF MIDDLETOWN, OHIO, ASSIGNOR T0 CRYSTAL WAXING COM- PANY,
OF MIDDLETOWN, OHIO PAPER-DISPENSING PACKAGE Application filed. February 6, 1929. Serial No. 337,780.
The main objects of this invention are to provide a paper dispensing package well adapted for use in packaging roll paper which effectively protects the paper, enables pieces or strips of the desired length being readily severed from the roll, and one which at the same time is of relatively slight cost and convenient to use.
Objects relating to details and economies of my invention will appear from the description to follow. The invention is defined and pointed out in the claims.
A structure which is a preferred embodiment of my invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in which Fig. 1 is a perspective view of' my paper dispensing package, one end of the holder being left open to disclose the roll of paper therein.
Fig. 2 is a transverse section on line 22 of Fig. 1.
Fig. 3 is a detail longitudinal section on line 3-3 of Fig. 1.
Fig. 4 is a fragmentary plan View.
In the accompanying drawing, 1 represents a cylindrical core upon which the paper 2 is wound. A roll of paper is arranged in the tubular holder 3 of suitable dimensions and length, this holder having a longitudinal slot 4. The ends of the holder are closed by means of the flanged'end walls 5-.
I provide a cutter bar ends of this cutter bar 7 being folded over the ends of the holder thereby securing the cutter bar in position. The cutter bar has a longitudinal slot therein, one edge of the slot being conformed to provide a cutter 8.- The slot is formed by punching or striking in a longitudinal lip 9 which lip constitutes a support for the paper.
A thumb hole 10 is formed in the holder adjacent to. and centrally of the cutter bar and so that it opens into the slot 4. In manipulating, the thumb is inserted through this opening to engage the roll, holding the roll against rotation while the withdrawn strip of paper is severed on the cutter.
My improved dispensing paper very convenient to manipulate,
holder is 6 of light metal, the I is simple bar opposite said lip constituting a cutting edge, said holder having a centrally disposed thumb opening adjacent said cutter bar.
2. A paper dispensing package comprising said holder, the edge of the opening in said a tubular holder having a longitudinal slot I therein, and a cutter bar lying above said slot and having its ends folded over the ends of said holder, said bar having a longitudinal inclined paper supporting lip struck inwardly therefrom and projecting into said slot in said holder, the edge of the opening in said bar opposite said lip constituting a cutting I edge.
3. A paper dispensing package comprising a tubular holder having a longitudinal slot therein, and a cutter bar disposed over said slot and having a longitudinal slot therein registering with said slot in said holder, therebeing an inwardly inclined paper supporting lip at one edge of said slot in said cutter bar, the other edge being adapted as a cutting edge, said holder having a thumb opening through which a roll of paper within the lgolder may be engaged adjacent said cutter 4. A paper dispensing package comprising a tubular holder having-a longitudinal slot therein, and a cutter bar disposed over said slot and having a longitudinal slottherein registering with said slot in said holder, there being an inwardly inclined paper supporting lip at one edge of said slot in said cutter bar, the other edge being adapted as a cutting edge.
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand.
ZEIBER W. RANCK.
