IMPROVEMENT IN MARKING-WHEELS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 168,362, dated October 5, 1875; application filed July 6, 1875.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, STANLEY E. WORRELL, of the city of Hannibal, county of Marion and State of Missouri, have invented a new and useful Improvementin Marking-Wheels, which improvement is fully set forth in the following specification, reference being bad to the accompanying drawing.
The object of my invention is to rapidly print or brand the heads of barrels, kegs, or other packages having chines or other projections above the surfaces, and to print said objects in one or more colors by one impres sion.
1 illustrate the machine for doing so in the accompanying drawing, of which Figure l is a perspective view, and Fig. 2 an end view of same.
A is a cylindrical roller, to the surface of which is attached or engraved the design to be printed. Said cylinder has curvilincal or other shaped grooves, I, sunken in its surface, into which said chine or other projections fall when the roller is passed over the head of a barrel or other object to be printed.
I print in one or more colors at one impression by separating, as at D, the felt or other material C, which holds the color on the inking-roller B.
I claim as my invention- A marking-wheel having a groove to fit over the chine of a barrel or other similar article, so that the main surface or marking part of the Wheel will touch all portions of the head of the barrel or other similar article, as shown.
