Description
Sept. 4, 1928. v .7 3
' w. R085 ET AL JOINTER Filed April 26. 1927 15 avwemboz William 250;: I [dward am xflilqr {tome/1 (a I v I 'W Patented Sept. 4, 1928.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
WILLIAM ROSS AND EDWARD ROSS, OF BROOKLYN, NEW YORIL J'OINTER.
Application filed April 26, 1927. Serial No. 186,615.
Heretofore, it has been exceedingly difficult to make the corners of buildings, etc., smooth and even because of the lack of a proper tool to reach such places, inasmuch a they are not readily accessible.
As a result, the joints, crevices and corners do not present a neat appearance and in addition, do not permit of strong connections between meeting surfaces, such as walls, floors and mouldings.
It is therefore the main object of this in-- vention to provide a slicker adapted to readily and evenly engage a corner to be cemented or plastered, so as to assure a smooth and neat appearing joint.
A further object is in the provision of an implement having variously shaped surfaces to enable its ready adaption to particular joints.
These and other objects, which will become apparent as the description progresses, are accomplished by the novel construction, combination and arrangement of parts, hereinafter described and illustrated in the'accompanying drawing, forming an important component of this disclosure, and in which Figure 1 is an edge view of an embodiment of the invention.
Figure 2 is a transverse sectional view taken online 22 of Figure 1.
Figure 3 is a similar sectional view taken on line 33 of Figure 1.
As shown in the drawlngs, the handle portion 15 is of rectangular cross-section and extending at an angle from one end thereof is a Working element 16 of similar cross-section. s
Reaching at an angle from the other end of the member 15 and parallel with the portion 16, is a second Working element 17 of a half-round cross-section to enable access to sharply rounded corners or crevices.
Thus it will be seen that a slicker has been disclosed adapted to engage corners or crevices of various sizes and shapes to make such joints and meeting points smooth and neat in appearance.
It Will also be noted that a tool has been invented embodying unitary means for working mouldings, etc.,' of dilferent con- .tours.
While a preferred form of our device has been shown and described, obviously changes in size, shape, proportion, etc, may be made without departing from the spirit or scope of the appended claim.
Having thus described our invention, Wha we claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
A slicker comprising a handle of rectangular cross-section, a pair of work elements formed integrally at the ends of. said handle in planes parallel to each other, one of said elements being halfrround in cross-section and the other of said elements being similar in cross-section to said handle.
In Witness whereof We have afiixed our signatures.
' "WILLIAM ROSS.
EDWARD Ross,
