Description

w. H. DANIELS Plow. No. 168,235. Patented Sept.2 8,187 5.
WI N E55 E5= Q ZQZZWF the point.
UNITED" STATES PA ENT OFFICE.
WILLIAM H. DANIELS, 0F MONTPELIER, OHIO.
IMPROVEM ENT IN PLOWS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 168,235, dated September 28, 1875; application filed February 3, 1875.
To all whom it may concern:
. Be it known that I, WILLIAM H. DANIELS,
of Montpelier, in the county of Williams and tains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, which forma part of this specification, in which- I Figure '1 is a perspective view of my plow. Fig. 2 is a view, in side elevation, of a detachment of the same, and Fig. 3 is an under-side view of my plow.
Corresponding .parts in the several figures are designated by like letters.
This invention relates to certain improvements in plows; and it consists'of a curvilinearly and vertically-adjustable T-shaped stand or bar for supporting and attaching the beam to the plow, and by means of which the said beam may be horizontally or laterally adjusted. h
In the annexed drawing, A refers to the plow-point, concaved or hollowed out onthe lower side, as seen in Figs. 1 and 3, and formed with flanges c a upon its upper side, retaining a thin, sharp surface, strengthening B refers to a T-shaped stand or bar for supporting and attaching the plowbeam 0 :to the plow, the vertical portion of which is let into the land-side b of the plow, and furnished with a vertical slot, 0, which receives a set-screw, d, from the land-side b,and a curvilinear slot, 0, crossing the slot 0, in which works a set-screw, f, from the said land-side. By means of the slot 0 and setscrew (1 the plow-beam may be vertically adjusted, and by means of the slot e and screw f, curvilinearly adjusted, in setting the plow deep or shallow in the ground. In the horizontal arm or portion of the stand or bar B are transverse slots g g, by which, with the assistance of set-screws h h from the plowbeam G, the latter may be adjusted squarely to one side of the plow-point, in giving the plow more or less land, maintaining a centraldraft by which the plow is steadied in its movement. It will be observed that after considerable wear of the plow-point the flanges a a may be broken off, and the same point continued to be used as an ordinary one.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The T-shaped stand or bar B, with the vertical and curvilinear slots 0 e and transverse slots 9 g,'in combination with the plow with the set-screws d f, and the plow-beam with the set-screws h h, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my own I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
WILLIAM H. DANIELS.
