.My invention relates to. a lingerie pin and has for its principal objects the provision of a relatively simple, ractical and inexpensive pin that is especial y designed for engaging and holding in propenposition the shoulder straps of lingerie; to provide a device of the character referred tothat is formed froma single piece of material andwhiclr is provided with; an intern-ally arranged pin, which latter, when inserted through the shoulder-portion:of an outer garment, firmly secures the devicelin proper? position upon the wearer; further, to provide a lingerie pin that may be'easily and quickly manipulated when applied for use or detached from the garment and,.further, to provide 'a lingerie pin that is inexpensive of manufacture which the'pin is secured and also showing in dotted lines, ortionsof the engaged shoulder straps of ingerie' Fig. 3 is an enlarged cross section taken on the line 3-3 of Fig. 2.

In the construction of my improved lingerie pin, I utilize a narrow strip or band of relatively thin metal having a considerable degree of resiliency and said strip or band is bent at a point intermediate its ends to provide a air of

That portion of the strip or band thatis bent to form the two arms is rounded or formed so as to provide a substantially semi-circular bend 12 rather than an abupt bend and thus the two arms may be sprung or flexed laterally rela tive to each other a suificient distance topermit the free ends of the armsito pass each other. The terminal iortion of arm 11 is rebent inwardly, as designated by 13, so as to overhe the corresponding end of said arm 11, and formed integral with and projecting inwardly from the end of said terminal portion 13, is a pin or prong l l having a pointed end. The under face of the upper end of armwll is roughened or provided with a series of short longitudinally disposed grooves 15." i

The free end of'arm10 is rebent inwardly so as to provide a short underlying plate 161 and the upper face thereof iscorrugated or provided with a series of short longitudinally disposed ribs 17'that are adapted to engage in the grooves 15 when the free end of arm 10 is' positioned over the free end of 'armll.

Formed integral with, and projectin' up.- wardly from the intermediate portion 0 arm 10, is a. short lip or flange 18 that may be engaged by the thumb or finger when the resilient arms of the pin are manip'ulated to secure or fasten the pin and likewise to unfasten the'same. e I v .In Fig. 4, I have shown a modified construction wherein the two arms forming the pin, instead of being integrally connected or, formed in a. single piece, are flexibly connected to each other at one end by means of a hinge joint, the same'consistmg of a loop 19 formed on one arm and which loop fits loosely through a slot or aperture 20 in the corresponding end of the other arm. This-hinge joint is formed so as to permit the freeendsof the armsto be moved 'sidewise a sufficient distance to'enable the same to pass one another when the pin is fastened or unfastened.

In the modified construction illustrated in Fig. 5the resilient arms of the pin are provided at intermediate points with inwardly pressed indentations, or perforations, the inner ends of which provide roughened surfaces that tend to grip the port-ions ofthe garment that are engaged between the arms of the pin when the same is in service. i

In the use of my improved lingerie pin, the same is'positioned on the inside of the shoulder portion of an outer garment and the pin or prong 14 is inserted'through a portion of said outer garment, preferably the shoulder seam, or the inwardly projecting portions of the garment adjacent to said seam and, after the shoulder straps ofv the lingerie have been positioned between the arms, the free ends of which are. spread apart, the ends of said arms are moved laterally in opposite directions so that the same may pass each other and said ends are now moved toward each other until the end of arm 10 and the in-turned plate 16 thereof is positionedupon and around theend of arm 11 and the in-turned portion 13 thereof.

When the ends of the pin have been thus sprung or snapped together, the ribs or roughened face of plate 18 engage in the grooves or roughened'face of the free end of arm 11, thus tending to lock the free ends of thep'in in engagement with each other.

Thus the pinis firmly secured to the shoulder portion of an outer garment and said pin, when closed, provides a loop that receives and retains in proper )osition on the shoulder of the wearer, the s oulder straps of lingerie.

In the modified form of the device illustrated in Fig. 6, a keeper 1% in the form of a lip that is pressed up or inwardly from the member 11 is utilized for retaining the end of the pin or prong 14 'after the same has been inserted through a portion of the clothing and thus the clasp may be positive ly secured to the clothing. I

A lingerie pin of y improved construction is comparatively simple, is inexpensive ofmanutacture, capable of being easily and quickly applied for use or detached from the garment to which it is secured and provides an efiicient, and convenient retainer for the shoulder straps of undergarments and the spaced arms connected at one end, a pin formed integral with the free end of one of said arms and projecting into the sauce between said arms. and an interned 1100 t on the end of the other arm, which hook is adapted to engage over the end of the arm having the inwardly projecting pin.

2. A lingerie pin comprising a pair of arms connected at one end and normally spaced apart, means on the free ends of said arms for retaining the same in closed position and a pin formed integral with the free end of one of said arms and projecting lengthwise through the space between said arms.

3. A lingerie pin comprising a pair of relatively narrow strips of resilient metal connected at one end, an inwardly proj cctin )ron formed inte ral with the free end 0 one of said arms and an inwardly projecting hook formed on the end of the other arm and adapted to engage around the end of the arm having the inwardly projecting hook.

4. A' lingerie clasp comprising a pair of resilient arms connected atone cnd and normally spaced apart and a pin projecting inwardly from the free end of one of said arms soas to occupy a position between said arms.

5. A lingerie clasp comprising a pair of resilient arms connected at one end and normallyspaced apart, a pin projecting inwardly from the free end of one of said arms so as to occup a position between said arms and a keeper iieneath which the free end of said pin may be engaged.

6. A lingerie clasp comprising a pair of resilient arms connected at one end and normally spaced apart, a pin projecting inwardly from the free end of one of said arms so as to occupy a position between said arms,

a keeper beneath which the free end of said pin may he engaged and means on the free ends of said arms for retaining the same in closed position.
