The object is the provision of a book holder of an extremely simple construction which may be cheapl manufactured and marketed at a reasonable selling price, and

6 which includes a frame on which there is hung a book support having its lower edge formed with an upstandin lip to contact with the exposed pages an open book,

7 and which has its lower or book support- 1 ing part swingable through the frame so that books of varying thicknesses may be successfully held in open position, the frame being leg supported and being arranged at an angle so that the open book is tilted at a l convenient angle with respect to the reader.

To the attainment of the foregoing, the invention consists in the improvement as hereinafter described and definitely claimed.

In the drawing the figure illustrates a perspective view of a book holder in accordance with this invention.

As disclosed by the drawings, both the frame and book support may be constructed of wire, although, it is, of course,-to be un- 2 derstood that other material 'may be employed.

The frame comprises an outer substantially U-shaped body whose parallel arms are indicated by the numeral 1 and the connecting element for the arms by the numeral 2. The arms'l have their lower ends rounded and extended at upward angles, as indicated by the numeral 3, and these angle portions have their ends rounded upon themselves 3 to provide foot portions 4. As a matter-offact, the inner rounded connecting portions 5 between the arms 2 and 3 likewise serve as legs, both these portions 5 and the portions 4 resting on a desk or like support.

In the showing of the drawing there is connected to the arms 1, adjacent their rounded ends 5, a transverse wire member 6, and this wire member, at suitable points equi-distant from the center thereof, is

While I have illustrated a satisfactory em bodiment of my improved device my features ofinvention are capable of extended application and I do not wish to be restricted to the precise details herein shown and described.

Having described the invention, I claim In a device for the purpose set forth, a wire frame comprising an outer substantially U-shaped part, the parallel arms of which are rounded and extend rearwardly at an upward angle and merge intodownwardly rounded portions providing with the first mentionedrounded portion feet, a cross member connecting the sides of the frame, strands extending vertically and connecting the cross member with the top of the frame,

a swingable holder hinged from said top having horizontal portions extending through the frame, said horizontal portions being provided with bent-up portions connected by a transverse portion at the front of the frame.
