-. Application filed August 26,1925. SeriaI' No. 52,523.
This invention has for its object acigarshaped pipe, and it is the principalobgect of the invention, to provide a smoking pipe having the outer appearance of a cigar cover, band, tip, and butt, perfectlysimulating a cigar and perfectly hiding the plpe. Another object of the invention s the provision of a cigar shaped smoking plpe, .the joint between the pipe and its mouth piece being entirelyand completely hidden by the band of the cigar. A further object of the invention is the provision oi a cigar shaped pipe, the simulation of the cover leaf of which is adapted to hide at its overlapping edges the air holes through Which the necessary air is furnished to the smoking pipe.
A still further object of the invention is a cigar-shaped smoking pipe adapted to receive a cotton or the like nicotine absorbing element making the smoking of a pipe sani tary and pleasant. I
These and other objects andadvantages oi the invention will become more fully known 7 as the description thereof proceeds and will then be specifically pointed out in the ap pended claims.
In the accompanyingdrawing forming a material part of this disclosure:
Fig. 1 is a front elevation of a cigarshaped smoking pipe constructed according to the present invention.
,Fig. 2 is a view similar to Figure 1, with the tip and butt-end of the cigar separated from its body part.
Fig. 3 is a longitudinal sectionalview of the cigar-shaped smoking pipe showing the interior arrangement.
Fig. 4 is a section on ure 3.
Fig. 5 is an end view of the cigar shaped smoking pipe.
Fig. 6 illustrates in fragmentary detail view a modified form of the butt-end.
A casing or body 10 having the shape of a cigar is covered by a simulation cover leaf 1,1 wound in the usual well known manner, in order to simulate a real tobacco cover leaf line H of Figwith the overlapping seams 12. A remov tapered outer end 16 and a channel or bore 17 and provided with threads at its lower end adapted to receive thehousing. 18 having its upper end provided with inner threads adapted to engage the threads of the mouth piece. e p
The pipe bowl 19 is torcedendwise into the housing 18 andhas a neck part 20 formed I therewith for t the reception of a wad or I cartridge 21 of absorbent material. or the like. The housing 18 is provided with a plurality of air holes 22 for supplying the necessary draft air to the smoking pipe. The end of the pipe opposite to its mouth piece is constituted by a block 23 screwed into the end of housing 18 and adapted to be covered by the cap 14; which may be of leather or other suitable material not easily deteriorated by heat. The block or lug 23 has a plurality of radiating bores 24 formed therein, and its outer face is covered by a suitable material indicated at 25 to simulate the glow of a burning cigar. The modified form of end block 26 illustrated in Figure 6, is hinged at one end to the outer end of housing 27 of the pipe, and has also radiating channels 28, while its end opposite to the hinge 29 is shouldered as at 30 to snugly and frictionally engage the lower mouth of housing 27 as to be held in lace therein.
The operation of my device will be entirelyclear from the above description with out further explanation, and it is to be understood, that such changes may be made in the construction disclosed herein as an example of the practical embodiment of my invention as come-within the scope of the claims without departure from the spirit of the invention. i Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Let ters Patent, is: A cigar-shaped smoking pipe comprismg an outer casing having an end closure on 1 the rear end thereof and having a central aperture therein, an inner peripheral flange on the forward end of said casing, and a fire bowl comprising a rear tubular neck portion mounted in the aperture of said end closure,
the forward end of said fire bowl being engaged by the inner flange of said casing,
said the bowl being'supported intermediate its ends in spaced relation to the inner walls of said casing.
2. A eigarshaped smoking pipe comprising an outer casing having an end closure on the rear end thereof and having a central aperture therein, an inner peripheral flange on the forward end of said casing, a firebowl comprising a rear tubular neck portion mounted in the aperture of said end closure the forward end of said fire bowl being engaged by the inner flange of said casing, said fire bowl being supported, intermediate its ends in spaced relation to the inner walls of said casing, a threaded boss on the outer end of the rear end closure of said casing, and a month vpiececomprising a central passage adapted to communicate with a passage in the neck portion of said fire bowl screw threaded on said threaded boss.
3. A cigar-shaped smoking pipe comprising an outer casing having an end closure on the rear end thereof and having a central aperture therein, an inner flange on the forward end of said casing, threads on the forward portion of said flange terminating in advance of the rear end thereof, a fire bowl comprising a rear tubular stem portion mounted inthe aperture of the rear end closure of said casing and a forward tubular portion supported at its forward extremity by said flange and being engaged by the inner walls of the rear portion of the latteiya threaded boss on the rear end closn're of said casing, a mouth ipiece screw threaded on said boss, and a cap forthe-fon l ward end of said casing screw threaded on the threads of said flange.
In testimony whereof I have afiixed my s1 gnature.
