The present invention relates to an improved attachment for nail files, the purpose being to provide such a deviceas will lying fiat against one face of the file so as to engage on the outside of the wall of the pocket, with the file inside the pocket, the lugs acting to keep the attachment securely fastened to the file.
It is to be understood that the particulars herein given are in no way limitive, and that while still keeping within the scope of the invention, any' desired modification of details and proportions may be made in the construction of the appliance according to circumstances. p i
The invention comprises further features and combination of parts to be hereinafter set forth, shown in the drawings, and claimed. p v t In the drawings Figure 1 is a view in perspective of the improved attachment consisting of a clip as applied to a finger nail file.
Figure2 is a similar view showing the opposite face ofthe file. y
Figure 3 is an enlarged detailed view 0 the clip detached from-the file.
Figure 4 is a sectional view on line 4-4 a of Figure 2;
Referring to the drawings, 1 identifies a finger nail file, the opposite edges of which are provided with notches 2, which are engaged by lugs 3 formed integrally with an attachment such as a clip 4. The lugs are bent around the edges in engagingfwith the notches, and the clip is of'elongated form and has an outwardly bent portion 5 which merges into a tongue 6 which is located adjacent the face of the file and the outer wall of the pocket will engage between the cli and the-file. The clip has an extension acent its rounded edge,
which bears against the face of the file adso as to bear against the face of thefile and create tension for 1 the clip when it is sprun laterally from the face of the file to permit the outer wall of the pocket to engage between the file and the clip. The extremities of the lugs are [counter-sunk in depressions 9 in one face of the file'so as to act additionally to vent displacement of the attachment an at the same time avoidany obstructions in the act-of inserting the file in ones pocket.
The invention having been set forth what is claimed is: Y i
1. The combination with a finger nail file having notches in its opposite edges of an attachment comprising a clip stamped from one piece of spring sheet metal havin an elongated tongue to bear on the outside of vthe wall of the pocket with the wall of the pocket between the tongue and the file, said clip having opposite lugs bent around the file and in engagement with the notches to prevent displacement of the clip, said clip having an extension beyond the tongue bearing against one face of the file to secure tenengage with the outer wall of the pocket. 2. The combination with a finger nail file having notches in its opposite edges of an attachment comprising a clip stamped from one piece of spring sheet metal having an elongatedtongue to bear on the outside of the wall of the pocket with the wall of the pocket between the tongue and the file, said clip having opposite lugs bent around the file and in engagement with the notches to 'sion sufficient to cause the clip to properly poc et,
In testimony whereof he aifixes his signature.
