To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, lViLLIA'M N. Monm- SON, a citizen of the United States,residing at St. Louis, Missouri, have invented a certain new and useful Improvement in Key- Ring Holders, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description, such as will enable others to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specification.

My invention relates to a key ring holder, the principal object of my invention being to provide a relatively simple and eflicient device which can be easily and cheaply manufactured, and which can be readily applied to a belt or the waist-bands of trousers for retaining, in a convenient manner, key rings and the like, my present invention be ing an improvement upon the key ring holder disclosed in U. S. Letters Patent No. 1295190 issued to me Feb. 2-5, 1919.

lVith the foregoing and other objects in view, my invention consists in certain novel features of construction hereinafter more fully described and claimed, and illustrated in the accompanying drawing in which- Figure 1 is a perspective view of a key ring holder of my improved construction.

Referring by numerals to the accompanying drawings, and particularly to the form of holder illustrated in Figs. 1, 2 and 3, 10 designates the blank from which the holder is formed, said blank being constructed from sheet metal which has a. certain degree of resiliency. This blank comprises a back body portion 11, the lower end of which is bent forwardly and thence upwardly to form a substantially U-shaped hook 12 which is adapted to receive the suspended key ring or like device, and the opposite end portion of the blank is bent forwardly and thence downwardly into a plane substantially parallel with the back portion 11 to form a resilient tongue 13, the lower end of which normally bears against the upper inner edge of the front leg of the hook 12. By pressing the lower portion of the tongue 13 rearwardly, the key ring may readily be positioned within or removed from the hook 12.

To provide a belt space, a relatively narrow strip of material, such as it, is stamped from the central portion of the back portlon 11, said strip being pressed forwardly so that it occupies a plane substantially parallel with and immediately adjacent to the tongue 13, and the space 15 between this strip 14 and back portion 11 is adapted to receive a belt, as illustrated in Fig. 1. Thus the device is suspended from the belt or like in a convenient manner and said device *may be adjusted lengthwise of the belt as desired. 7

In the form of device illustrated in Fig. 4t, the belt space within the device is formed by locating a relatively narrow strip of material, such as 16, between the back portion 11 and tongue 13, the lower end of said narrow strip being secured to the lower portion of the back of the device by a rivet or. by being spot-welded.

In the form of device illustrated in Figs. 5 and 6, the belt space is formed by cutting relatively narrow strips of material, such as 17 from the side edges of the back portion of the device and bending said narrow strips forwardly so that they occupy a plane between and substantially parallel with the back of the device and the resilient tongue (see Fig. 6).

In the form of device illustrated in Fig. 7 a relatively narrow strip of material, such as 18, is stamped from the'back portion of the device and is extended upward in the same plane with the rear leg of the hook at the lower end of the holder, and the upper portion of the back member is bent rearwardly so that it occupies a plane substantially parallel with and spaced apart from said strip 18.

A key ring holder of my improved construction is relatively simple, may be easily piece of metal and comprising a back portion, a hook at the lower end thereof, a resilient tongue depending from the upper end of said back portion, the lower end of which tongue bears against the upper edge of the front leg of the hook, and a narrow strip of material secured at its lower end to the lower portion of said back portion and extending upwardly between said back portion and said tongue.

2. A key ring holder formed from a single pieceofmetal and comprising a back spaced apart from said back portion to form 20 a belt receiving opening.
