My invention has reference to anv improvement in diving sta-nds and more par tic-ularly to an improvement in a diving stand that is collapsible and portable, where by the diving stand may be folded up and easily carried from `place to sea shore, on the running-board of an` automobile.
The object of my invention is to improve the construction of such a diving stand whereby, when the diving stand is set up on a comparatively smooth surface, such as flooring at the end of a wharf, it can not collapse, when used for diving purposes.
Another object of my invention is to so construct such a diving stand, whereby when the diving stand is collapsed or folded up it will occupy a minimum amount of space, for packing and transportation purposes.
A further object of my inventionv is to simplify the construction of such a diving stand, thereby increasing its strength and reducing its cost to a minimum.
My invention' consists in the peculiar and novel construction of a portable and collapsible diving' stand, said diving stand having details of construction, as will be more fully set forth hereinafter and claimed.

In the drawing 7, 7, indicates the step legs, 8, 8, the brace legs and 9 the diving platform of` my improved portable diving stand. The ste legs 7, 7, are L shaped in cross 'section an formed from the arms of a U shaped member, the arms of the U forming the step legs and the closed end of thc U forming a fiat base bar 10. each step having a. tread 12, a downwardly bent lip 13 having outwardly extending ends 14, 14, riveted to the front portions of the step legs and downwardly bent ends 15, 15, riveted to the side portions of the step legs. The brace legs 8,18, are L shaped in cross section and formed from the arms of a U shaped member having a flat base bar 16, a roundcross rod 17 secured at each end to the brace legs 8, 8, on a line just above the upper step 11, on the step legs 7, 7, and a flat brace bar 18 riveted at each end to the brace legs,8, 8. The upper end of each step leg 7 is pivotally secured to a` connecting link 19'which in turn is pivotally secured to the upper adjacent end of the brace leg 8, as shown in Figure 6. Two brace arms 20, 20, are each pivotally secured at its step end to a step leg 7. Each brace arm 20 has an L shaped end 21 which contacts with the cross rod 17, and this L shaped end has a forked extension 22 which engages with and straddles the cross rod 17, as shown in Figlires 3 and 4,' thereby firmly holding` the step and brace legs from collapsing. `The diving platform 9 has a downwardly bent lip 23 which fits over the upper ends ofthe step legs 7, 7, and an oppositely disposed downwardly bent lip 24. A flat cross bar 25 having downwardly bent ends 26, 26, is riveted to the underside of the diving platform 9, the ends 26, 26, being pivotally sccured to the upper ends of the brace legs 8, A flat cross bar 27 having downwardly bent ends 28, 28, is riveted to the underside ofthe diving platform 9 adjacent the lip 24.. Platform supporting arms 29, 29, are pivotally secured at their upper ends to the ends 28, 28, of the cross bar 27, the arms'29, 29, being braced by a connecting bar 30, and each arm 29 has a forked end 31,. which engages with and straddles the cross rod 17, on the brace legs 8, 8, as shown in Figures 1 and 3.
When in use the diving stand is set up as shown in Figure 1. The weight of the diver on the diving platform 9 will force the forked ends 31, 31, of the arms 29, 29, against the cross rodv17 which in turn is forced into the forked extensions 22, 22, of the brace arms 20,` 20, thereby holding the diving stand from collapsing when in use. For transportation purposes the forked ends of the arms 20, 20, and 29, 29, are withdrawn from the cross rod 17 and the diving stand folded up as shown in Figure 2.
Having thus described my invention I claim as new A portable diving stand having step legs with steps, brace legs having a cross rod, links pivotally connect-ing the step legs Wit-h the brace legs, brace arms pivotally connected with the step legs, each brace arm having an L shaped end with a forked eX- tension which engages with and straddles the cross bar on the brace legs, a diving platform pivotally secured to the brace legs and having a downwardly bent lip which lies over the upper ends of the step legs, and platform supporting arm's pivotallv secured to the diving platform, each platform supporting arm having a forked end which engages With and straddles the cross rod on the brace legs.
