Application flled October '13, 1926. Serial No. 141,803.
The object of the invention is to provide a device for the removal of dust which, when put in operation, will not only serve to loosen the dust from the surface beingr cleaned but will dispose of it by blowing it away from the operator as when such articles as screens are being cleaned.
With this object in view, the invention consists in a construction and combination of parts of which a preferred embodiment is illustrated in the accompanying drawings, wherein: a
Figure 1 is a side elevational view of the invention.
Figure 2 is a central Vertical longitudinal sectional view.
Figure 3 is a transverse sectional view on the plane indicated by the line 3-8 of Figure 1.
The body portion of the brush is in `the form of a housing or dust .shield 10 with which there is connected the handle llrso that the device as a whole may be readily grasped by the operator. The housing or shield 10 is open on the under` face, as indicated at 12, and disposed within the opening is a rotary brush 14 carried on a spindle of which the journals are rotatably mounted in bearings carried by the bracket arms 15 mounted on opposite sidesof the housing. VVithin the housinr is mounted a fan 16 having' a shaft journaled in the end walls of the housing, one extremity of the shaft'protruding beyond the housing for the reception of a pinion v17 which is in mesh with a spur gear 18, the latter being mounted on a stub shaft 19 carried by the end wall of the housing and being actuable by means of av crank 20.
In the operation of the invention, which is particularly adaptable for Cleaning screens, the housing isv placed against theV screen with the rotary brush 14 in contact what is claimed as new and useful is:
A device for the purpose indicated comprising a housing open on its under side and having a semi-cylindrical top side, a brush spanning and disposed within the area of the open side, a rotary fan within the housing directly above the brush and carried by a shaft rotatably mounted in said housing coincident with the axis vof the top side, and a manual actuating crank operativelv connected with the fan shaft, the housing having lateral walls at the extremities of said top side and said walls having air intake openings 'adjacent said top side.
In testimony whereof he aflixes his signature.
EMILE DAVNES.
