This invention .relates to improvements in tools for use upon socket wrenches andwhich includes the conventional form of rectangular extension which is adapted to be fitted within the upper end of the socket wrench and which further includes a skirt or sleeve which extends along the entire length of the rectangular portion in spaced relation therefrom and includes correspondingly shaped inner edges thereon in order that the end of the socket, may be received on the rectangular lug and within the correspondingly shaped'spa'ce between the lug' and the skirt or sleeve'in order that the upper end of the socket wrench will not be caused to break or crack and prevent rotation of the rectangular lug portion within the upper portion of the socket wrench.

With the above and other objects in view, the invention further includes the following novel features and details of construction, to be hereinafter more fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawing and v pointed out in the appended claim.

It will thus he noted from the foregoing description and accompanying drawing that this invention provides a very useful device for use in machine shops and garages and which will savethe buying of various sizes of socket wrenches owing tothe fact that the same wrenches may be used indefinitely owing tothe fact that this tool will prevent the splitting ofthe upper ends thereof. It is further to be noted that this invention is very simple in construction, easy to manufacture and owing to the simple construction thereof, may be manufactured in great num bers and sold at a very nominal cost.

The invention is susceptible of various changes in its form, proportions and minor details of construction, and the right is herein reserved to make such changes as properly fall within-the scope of the appended claim;

Having described my invention what is cla med 1s r A toolcomprismg a bar provided with a rectangular tool engaging portion upon one end, .a sleeve of enlarged dimensions being carried upon the opposed end of the bar, and a lug pro ected from the bar and within the sleeve being adapted to provide a recess therebetween within which may be received the attaching portion of atsocket wrench to preserve the corners thereof and to prevent bulging which frequently results in loose fitting connections.
