The object of this invention is to furnish an improved toy for children, neat and tasteful in appearance, substantial in construction, and capable of affording its possessors a lasting amusement.
The invention consists in a toy grocery-store, made of sheet metal, and provided with the detachable sign and ornament, the shelves, the drawers, the boxes or canisters, a movable counter, and the pivoted detachable candlebrackets or chandeliers, as hereinafter fully described.
A represents the floor of the store. .13 is the rear wall, and G the side walls, which are made flaring, and are connected at their upper forward corners by a cross-piece, D. The crosspiece D strengthens the side walls 0, is surmounted by an ornamental device, E, and serves as a sign, and may have any desired name or Words painted upon it. The crosspiece or sign D is made detachable, so that it and its ornamental device E may be detached and placed beneath thefloor A, for convenience in packing, and to prevent the ornament E from being broken in packing or transportation. Against the rear wall B is formed a series of shelves, F, which are divided into compartments by vertical partitions. In some of the compartments of the shelves F are placed drawers G; in others are placed boxes or canisters H, some of which may also be placed upon the upper shelf F. Upon the floor A of the store, in front of the shelves F, is placed a movable counter, I. To the side walls 0 of the store are pivoted detachable candle-brackets or chandeliers J, to receive toy candles.
The entire store and its fixtures are made of sheet metal, so as to be light, and at the same time strong and durable, and may be painted' of any desired color.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent--- 7 A toy grocery-store, A B 0, made of sheet metal, and provided with the detachable sign and ornament D E, the shelves F, the drawers G, the boxes or canisters H, a movable co'nnter, I, and the pivoted detachable candle-brackets or chandeliers J, substantially as herein shown and described.
