- Application filed Apri116,
In devices of thischaracter it is essential that they be compact and of such construe therein should be readily accessible.
It is further desirable that they should ti-on that the several commodities carried.
carry amirror capable of vuse with each of the several contents.
i It is further desirable that the device should beof such construction as to, allow of the, easy removal of used compacts and the insertion of'new ones. p 1
My device contalnsall of the-above and other desirable qualities, astvill be evidenced-- similar parts '1 ine 66 ot Figure 3.
upon a consideration of my specification and its accompanying drawings. In the accompanying drawings illustrating one form of the device of my invention are designated by similar'numerals. v r y Figure 1 is a perspective view of one form of my device in closedposition. i Figure 2 is an enlarged view of the device of Figure 1; in wide open position exposing the contents of the bottom member. Figure 3 is the device ofFigure 2 in wide open position exposing the contents of the member; 4
v Figure 4 is a cross-section through the 7 line 4-4 of Figure 3.
*Figure 5 is an enlarged cross-section through the 11110 5-5 ofFigure 1.
Flgu're 6 1s a cross-section through the Figure 7 is across-section through the line I" 7 -7 of Figure 3. v
Figure 8 isa perspective View of-the bottom compact holder.
Figure 9 1 s a perspective view ofjthe top comp act holder.
' inns comprises abottom member having the Figure 10 is a perspective View of the rouge holder with the cover raised. a I
The particular -form of the device of my intention shown in the accompanying drawbottom 10, the sides 11 and 12 and the ends 13 and 14 Within thevbottom member is a tray compact holder having the bottom 15, the sides 16 and 17 and the ends '18'and 19 carrying thecompact 20. This compact holder is maintained Within the bottom memher by frictional contact between the sides of 19 2i Serial No. 1a4,as2.
tom-member and also by means of the extended locking member 21 carried by the end 14 oflthe bottom member and extending over the top of the end 19 of the compact holder.
. Spaced from the end '18 and fixedly attachedto the inner face of the bottom end 13 is afmember54, each bent end of which has "-an upwardly extending member 55' acting as a guide for the top member when being closed, theflends' 56, 56 of the member 54 26. p The end 14 of the bottom member and .theend 25 of the top member, or cover, are
pivotally connected at27. v
Within the top member is asmaller tray compact holder having the bottom 29 the sides 30 and'31 and the ends 32a id 33 and. carrying the compact 34, 5
This top compact holder is held in place byfrictional contact of its sides with the sides of the top member and by means of the. locking member carried by the top member end 25.
.Within the top member and within the space between the end 82 of the compact holder and the end 26 of the top member is a tray rouge holder having the bottom 36,,
the hinged cover 41, and carries a rougecom pact 42. The cover 41 ararries the extension 43 for ease of opening' and for holding, a powder puff u on the compact 4:2.
The rouge'l i tion Within the top member by means of extensions 44 and 45 carried by the sides 23 and 24 of the top member which are inserted; 'within the longitudinal recesses 46 andgdij of'the. sides '37 and -38"of therougze hold As the rouge holder is somewhat smaller longitudinally. of the top member than the space within which it is positioned it may be moved therein to allow the smaller tray compactholder to be moved from release from the locking member 35 and thus made capahle of removal from the top-member.
A metallic mirror 48 is hingedly attached older is maintained in p osiabutting upon the end 18 of the compact to the hinged joint-ure of the top membermember and a powder puff 50 is inserted in the top member.
The de'vice is maintained in closed posi-- thecompact member and the sides of the bot- .tion by means of the spring locking means lows 2-- When the device is in the position shown in Figure 2, but with the top member at rightangles to the bottom member, access is given to the compact in the bottom member and the mirror is in position for use.
' When the device is in the position shown in Figures 3 and 4, but with the bottom member at right angles to the top member, compact and therouge in the top member are accessible and the mirror is in position for use. When in this position the rouge receptacle cover may be closed if the rouge is not needed.
The ease with which used compacts may be removed and new. ones introduced has been explained above.
A particular feature of my device is the.
fact that it may be readily held in one hand with the compact and mirrorin proper position for use.
pactness, due to the abutment of the bottom member and top member when closed and further because of the extreme thinness of the metallic mirror.
I do not limit myself to the particular size, shape, number, arrangement or materialof parts as shown and described, as these are given simply as a means for clearly describing my invention.
What I claim is 1. In a container, in combination, a bot-.
tom member, a removable tray compact holder within the bottom member spaced from one end thereof, a top member hingedly attached to the bottom member, a removable tray compact holder within the top member, a separate removable tray rouge holder Within the top member, spaced from one end thereof and capable of longitudinal movement within the top member and a metallic mirror carried by the top and bottom hingecapable of covering the interior of the top member and'bottom inember.
2. In a container, in combination, a bottom member, a removable tray compact holder within the bottom member spaced from one end thereof, a compact holder locking member carried by the bottom member, a top member hingedly attached to the bottom member, aremovable tray compact holder within the top member, a compact 1 holder locking means carried by the top member, a separate removable tray rouge Another feature of my device is its com- I one end thereof and capable of longitudinal movement within the top member, a hinged cover-for the rouge holder, and a metallic mirror carried by the top and bottom member hinge capable of covering the interior of the top member and the bottom member.
3. In a container, in combination, a bottom member, 'a removable tray compact holder within the bottom member spaced from one end thereof, a top member hingedlyattached to the bottom member, a removable tray compact holder within the top member, a removable tray rouge bolder within the top member, spaced from one end thereof, means within the bottom member guiding the top member and bottom member during the closure of the device and a metallic mirror carried by the top and bottom hinge capable of covering the interior of the 'top member and bottom member 4. In a container, in combination, a bottom member, a removable tray compact holder within the bottom member spaced from one end thereon, a compact holder locking member carried by the bottom member,
acting as a guide for the top member and bottom member during the closure of the device, a top member hingedly attached to the bottom member, a removable tray compact holder within the top member, a compact holder locking means carried by the top member, a removable tray rouge holder within the top member spaced from one end thereof, a hinged cover for the rouge holder, and a metallic mirror carried by the top and bottom member hinge capable of covering the interior of the top member and the bottom member.
5. In a container, in combination, a bot tom member, a removable tray compact holder within the bottom member spaced from one end thereof, a compact holder locking member carried by the bottom member, a top memberhingedly attached to the bottom member, a removable tray compact holder within the top member. a compact -holder locking means carried by the top member, a removable tray rouge holder within the top member spaced from one end thereof, a hinged cover for the rouge holder, and a pivotally attached metallic mirror capable of covering the interior of the top member and the bottom member.
