For its objects I have aimed to provide in such a garment a reinforced edge capable of holding securely any number or kind of fasteners that may be affixed thereto; means associated with such an edge for underlying the complementary free edge of the garment whereon co-operative fasteners are carried, whereby to provide a neater and more comfortable connection; and means interposed between the fasteners and the body for protecting the latter against Contact and sharpY pressure from the former. The improvements of this invention were earlier disclosed in my application filed September 21, 1925, Serial No. 57 ,695, of which this is a division.

The garment herein shown kcomprises girdle and brassire portions which may consist of any desired number of fabric pieces or sections suitably secured together. Associated with this binding isa tape 16 having one edge 17 vturned upon itself to provide a double thickness, as shown. Between the tape and binding are arranged one set of fastenersthe eyes 13, for example-each secured in place, if desired, with an eyelet 18. As by means of stitching 19, both tape plies,

'the fasteners, the binding, and elastic garment edge, are mutually connected. VBy this construction the tape 'is extended pastthe fasteners to underlie the other free edge of the garment, thereby providing a neater and closer connection therewith; The fasteners are also concealed and held from contact with the body or any undergarment thereon, thus conducing to comfort in wear.

Referring now to Figs. 4 vand 5, I havev shown in detail av construction very similar `to that which has already been described.'

The garment edge 14 is reinforced with a binding 15 similar to that elsewhere illus-V trated. Extending past the garment edge is a strip 2O which may be secured by stitching as at- 21. Between this strip and the bindingy are arranged fasteners 13 'which may have an eyelet connection'18 with the former.

Applied over ther outer side of the strip is a tape 22 having preferably a width which is suiicient to extend past the binding and most of each fastener as well. To complete the construction, a suitable stitching 23 may be employed, which proceeds lengthwise of the garment edge in double rows, one to each side of the fasteners, as shown in Figure 4.

It is to be noted that in each of the two forms of my invention herein shown, the fasteners are carried on a strip or tape to which connection may be made as with eyelets.
