TOY WHISTLING DEVICE.
a ication filed liov'emberfia 1926. Serial no. 150,187.
sound producer or whistle, in conjunction with means for swinging said induction tube around in a circle, said length extension means being provided for the purpose of modifying and regulating the sound effect emanating from the air induction tube, con sidered in a unitary'sense.
In, the accompanying drawing I illustrate a practical embodiment of the essential features of my inventionin a whirlable whistling toy of the character designated,
without limiting myself to the identical structure and configuration of component parts shown by way ofexemplification since changes may be made in' minor details, and equivalent mechanical expedients resorted towith like results, and without departing in this respect. V
IVith this understanding 'Fig. 1, representsa side elevation of the device; and
Fig. 2, a view of the upper side thereof;
Fig.3, is a front end elevation; and
Fig. 4, a central longitudinal section taken upon plane of line H, Fig. 2.
My air-induction tube A, is preferably,- although not necessarily cylindrical in shape for simplicity and economy of construction, and forms the support for an air-actuated sound producing device, as for instance a whistle W, that shown in the drawing being 5 of a well known type consisting of two centrally perforated concavoconvex metal- I lie discs joined peripherally. In this connection it is to be understood that by the term whistle as herein used I mean to include any suitable air-actuated sounding device adapted to be mounted-in the interior of the air-induction tube A, substantially as shown in Figs. 3 and 4, of the drawings.
One end of a suspender S, is attached to the air-induction tube A, the other end of from the spirit and intent of my invention;
said suspender. S being attached'by means of a loop 8, 'to a handle H, in such manner as to admit of the turning of the connectlve loop 8, on said handle, so that the Suspender S, and air-induction tube A, may be freely revolved around the handle H, and by means thereof.
Thus, as shown in Fig. 1, of the drawings, the loop 5, is mounted in a groove it,
formed for the purpose in the end of the j handle H, so as to be rotatable thereon, although any means of connection between the handle H, and the suspender S, that will admit of the swinging of the Suspender S, and air induction tube A, around in a circle with the handle as the axis of revolution will answer the purpose, which is to induce a current of air through said tube A, in such 'manner as therein.
The Suspender S, is preferably attached to the induction tube A," off centre, and nearer to the forward end than to the rear end thereof, so that, when suspended, the said induction tube A, will betilted slightly upward from rear to front, this method of inclined suspension having beenfound desirable in practice, to insure required alignment of the tube during revolution, around the handle H; I
For like reason, also the rear end' of the air-induction tube A, may be provided with to actuate the whistle I a tail t, and the body portion thereof with the handle H.
' In order to vary the length of the, air- I induction tube A, for the. purpose of vary rug and regulating the sound effect produced by thewlnstleNV, I provide said tube A,
with one or more adjustable end sleeves or extensions, as the forward sleeve a,.and the rear sleeve a, to which the tail t, is attached. By thismeans the tone and volume of sound emanating from the whistle W, may be-modified.
What I claim as my invention and desire to secure by Letters'Patent, is 1 1.As an article of manufacture, a toy whistling device of the character designated,
comprising an air induction tube, an air 'ac- 'tuated sounding device positioned therein,
an adjustable, "open extension sleeve on an end of said air induction tube, a suspender attached to said air induction tube, With Wings and a tail both located to the rear of said suspender.
2.YAs an article of manufacture, a toy Whistle of the character designated, comprising an air induction tube, an air actuated sounding device positioned therein, adjustable, open extension sleeves on both ends of said air induction tube, a suspender attached to said air induction tube, and a handle to p which said sus vendor is rotatabl I attached substantially in the manner and for the purpose set forth. 7
3. As an article of manufacture a toy Whistling device of the character designated, including a pair of open telescoping air induction tubes, an air actuated sounding device therein and a suspender attached to.
one of said tubes between the ends thereof for the purpose described, with wings and a tail both locatedto the rear of said suspender.
