E. F. BULLOCK PASTE TUBE HOLDER Filed March 11, 1927 tending cap 17 bolts extending Patented Jan. 10, 1928 EBEN I. BULLOCK,
or c'nmsrou, axons ISLAND.
PASTE-TUBE HOLDER.
Application filed March 11, 1927. Serial No. 174,678.
This invention relates to certain new and useful improvements in paste tube holders, andthe primary object thereof is to provide a holder for dental or shaving cream tubes or the like which has novel means for supporting the tube and for expressing the contents therefrom.
The invention device of this type which is ofsimple and economical construction and which can be readily ad'usted to tubes of varying lengths.
In the rawings.:-
Fig. 1 is a front elevation of Fig. 2 is a side elevation;
Fig. 3 is a section on line and Fig. 4 is a bottom plan view.
In proceeding in accordance with the present' invention, a holder is provided which consists of a pair of L- shaped members 1 and 2, the member 1 having screw holes to receive screws 2 by means of which the holder may be supported from a wall or other surface. The member 1 is further provided with bolts 3 having wing nuts 4, the through slots 5 formed in the lower member 2 and by means of which the members, may be adjusted to accommodate tubes of varying lengths.
The top of the member 1 is slotted at 6 and receives in such slots the ends 7 ofa supporting member 8, the latter being split at 9 so as to receive the folded bottom 10 of a tooth paste tube 11 therein. The ends 7 are attached by meansof rivets 12 or the like to the top of the member 1, and in Fig. 2 it will be apparent that the bottom 10 of a tooth paste tube 11 may he. slid into the holder from an end of the latter. The neck the invention;
3-3 of Fig. 1,
13 of the tube is received in an opening 14 formed in the bottom of the member 2 whereby it will be seen that the tube is held at each of its ends. A closure 15 is pivoted at 16-to the under face of the bottom of member -2 and is formed with an outwardly exwhich latter is open at one end and engages over the mouth of the tube so as to close or cover the latter.
In order to express the contents of the tube, a pair of presser bars 18 of concavoconvex cross-section are employed the members having their convex sides engaging opposite sides of the tube so as to compress the latter as shown in Fig. 2. A ring 19 is passed through openings formed in the bars 18 at one end thereof so as to hingedly confurther aims to provide a nect the latter, while a clip 20 encircles the opposite ends of the bars so as to hold the latter in operative position. A chain 21 is used to anchor the clip to the ring 19 while a second chain 22 is employed to anchor the presser bars to the top of the member 1, the chain 22 being connected to the ring19.
From the foregoing, it will be seen that the bottom of the tube is first slid into engagement with the holder 8 and then the member 2 is adjusted the tube to be received in whereupon the wing nuts are tightened thereby supporting the tube at both of its ends. The members 18. are then engaged with opposite sides of the tube and secured by the clip 20, and as the material in the tube is used, the presser members are moved downwardly, as is obvious.
Having thus described my invention what the opening 14 to cause the neck of I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
1. In a paste members, means therein and having ends extending throu h the apertures and secured to the top of t e upper member, the bottom of the lower member having an opening to receive the neck of the tube, a movable presser member composed of a pair of opposed bars having convex faces engaged with opposite sides of the tube hingedly connecting the bars at one end thereof, a slidable clip engaging over the bars to prevent hinging movement thereof, a chain connected to the clip and to the ring, and a chain connected to the ring and to one of the members,
2. In a paste tube holder, a pair of L- members, means to secure one of the members to a support, the members having overlapped inner ends, means to adjustably connect said ends, the top of the upper member having apertures, a holder member slotted to slidably receive the bottom of a tube therein and having ends extending throu h the apertures and secured to the top of t e upper member, the bottom of the lower memher having an opening to receive the neck of the tube, a movable presser member composed of a pair of opposed bars hinged together at one end and. engageable w1th op- I posite sides of the tube,
' members,
and means to hold the bars against hinging movement.
3 In a paste tube holder, a fpair of L- members, means to secure one o the members to a support, the members havin lapped inner ends, means to adjustab nect said ends, means on the top of t per member and on the bottom of the lower member to engageand hold the ends of a paste tube, and a movable presser member enga%eable with the. tube.
4. n a paste tube holder, 3. fpair of L- means to secfire one o the memis to a support, the members havin lapped inner ends, means to adjustab nect said ends, means on the top of the member and on the bottom of the 0ver- COD.-
overy conlower member to engage and hold the ends of a paste tube, and a movable I engageable with the tube, said presser mem-' ber including a pair of bars receiving the presser member tube therebetween and hinged togfither at one end, and releasable means to old the. bars against hingin movement.
5 In a paste ,tu holder, 9. air of L- members, means to secure one o the members to a support, the members havin overlapped inner ends, means to adjustab y connect said ends, means on the top of the member and on the bottom of th member to en age and holdthe ends of'a paste tube, an a movable presser member en'gageable with the tube, said er including a. pair of bars and hinged together at and releasable means to hold the bars ainst hinging .movement composed of a clip slidably received over the opposite ends of the bars. In testimony whereof I have hereunto signed my name to this specification.
EBEN F. BULLOCK.
