Application filed August 26 To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, J0me I-I. 'lnomrson, a citizen of the United States, residing at Greenville, in the county of Darke and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Brush Holding Devices; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters and figures of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.

This invention relates to new and useful improvements in devices for holding brushes of various ln'nds, affording means whereby the bristles may be protected and consists of means whereby distortion and discoloration of the bristles may be prevented by keeping them out of contact with the sides orbottom of the receptacle containing water or other liquids and in which they are placed for protection when not in use.

My invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which: 1

Reference now being had to the details of the drawings by letter, A and B designate the two parts of the brush holder,,made of any suitable material, the two sections each having flanges O, and D respectively, the flanges being pivoted together as shown. in the manner shown in Fig. 1 ofthe drawings. The upper portions of the flanges of each section are corrugated as at E and are adapted to interlock with one another when the sections are closed or in the position shown in Fig. 1. The two sections converge toward their lower ends and are adapted to frictionally hold a brush H intermediate the end walls with the ends of the bristles a slight distance above the open bottom of the device.

It will be noted that by the provision of a device embodying the features of my invention, a simple and efiicient means is afforded whereby a brush of any kind may be securely held so that the bristles will be protected, the latter being held from contact with the bottom or sides of a receptacle in which the \brush may be contained with liquid for protection, thereby keeping the bristles from discoloration. j

What I claim to be new is A brush holding device comprising two sections having flanges upon the opposite sides only, the upper free end of each flange being provided with corrugations, pivotal pins passing through the flanges a slight distance above corresponding ends, the flangesv of one section adapted to swing inside the flanges of the other, the said corrugations being adapted to frictionally engage one another to hold the sections together to form a brush holding receptacle.
