This invention relates to an improved characterized by a. construction that avoids any metal or projecting parts coming in contact with the limb of the wearer or his garments.

A third object of the invention is the production of a garter that has extending therefrom a depending strap with a clamping device which is below and directly in line, with a vclamping device that connects the ends of the leg band of the garter.A By means of this construction the strains on the leg band are transmitted through its clampn ing device and thereby the strains on each side of said clamping device are equalized.

At the eXtreme outer end of the adjusted portion is secured a frame 24 with the hook 25. At the other end of the leg band 20 is fastened a double disc designated in its entirety by the letter A. The said disc comprises the outer member 26 that has connected thereto the eyelet 27 and the inner member 28 with the inner face 29. The said disc is preferably made of and the members thereof are forming a pocket 32 between them. The thereto the end 22 of the leg band 20. The said strap comprises the pair of members 35, 36 and the pair of members 37, 38. The members 37 and 38 at. their lower end join to form a loop 39, for the loop 40. The

members and 36 form a loop 43 at their bottom ends and the member 36 supports the button 45. It will be noted that the two pairs of members 35, 36 and 37, 38 `are only connected to each other at their top ends by the stitching 3l in the disc A.

To secure a garter, in position the leg band 2O is located aroundthe limb of the wearer or around the garment thereon and the hook end 21 is located over the disc A and the hook 25 locked into the opening of the eyelet 27. The upper portion of the stocking which is to be supported is then located between the members 36 and 87 of the strap B, and by reason of the fact that said members are only connected to each other at their top ends, the top edge of the stocking can be located at different distances from the top end of said strap vB. The stocking is now clamped over the button 45 by means of the loop 40 in the usual manner.

It will be noted by an inspection of Fig. 4 that when the hook 25 is locked to the eyelet 27 its outer end is locatedl adjacent to the inner face 29 of the inner member 28 of the disc A, thereby avoiding any contact of said hook with the wearer.

It will also be noted that the button is in a vertical line directly below the eyelet 27, by reason of which the strains on the ends 2l and 22 of the leg band are equalized.
