I ti e ADOLF KASSLER, OF :NEW YORK, N. Y.
ooLLArsIBLE-TUBE HOLDER.
The present invention relates to support- 7 ing devices for containers, and is particularly designed for use in holding of collapsible tubes, such as are used for tooth paste and other. plastic materials.
The main objects of the invention are to provide a device of this type which is simple in construction, efficient in operation, durable in use and capable of manufacture on a commercial scale, or in other words one which is not so difficult to produce as to be beyond the reasonable cost of such a contrivance. r
A further object of the invention is to provide a'collapsible tube holder, which serves at the same time as a toothbrush rack.
With these and other objects in view, which will more fully appear as the nature of the invention is better understood, the
same consists in the combination, arrangement and construction of parts hereinafter described, pointed out in the appended claim and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, it being understood that many changes may be made in the size and proportion of the several parts and details of construction within the scope of the appended claim, without departing from the spirit or sacrificing any of the advantages of the invention.
Two of the many possible embodiments of the invention are illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 is a side elevation of a tube holder constructed in accordance with the present invention; Fig. 2 is a plan view thereof; Fig. 3 is a front elevation of a clip forming part of the tube holder; Fig. 4 is a side elevation of a modified construction; and Fig. 5 is a top plan view of the modification illustrated in Fig. 1.
Referring now first to Figs. 1 to 3, inclu sive, of the drawings, the numeral 10 indicates a support, preferably made of sheet metal, and including a horizontally extending plate member 11, provided with a vertically extending flange 12. This flange is placed against a support, not shown, and attached to the said support by screws, nails or other fastening devices. The end of the plate member 11, opposite the flange 12, is bent downwards as shown at 13, thence into parallel relation with the plate member, as

indicated at 14;, the last-mentioned portion being then bent upwards, as indicated at 15, toward the plate member 11 and extended in parallel relation into abutment with the plate member, as shown at 16. The section 16 of the support is fixed to the plate member by rivets 17, or otherwise. As appears from Fig. 1 of the drawings, the section 14 is spaced from the plate member 11 and is provided with a transverse slot 18, extending throughout the width of the section 14. Into the slot is adapted to be inserted a clip 19, made of sheet metal. The clip includes two parallel legs 20, united by a resilient bow 21. The legs 20 are arc-shaped in transverse cross-section, as clearly shown in Figs. 1 and 3 of the drawings, there being thus formed in the outer face of each leg a longitudinal groove 22, in which the edges of the slots it)? 5116 disposed, when the device is assem- When it is desired to mount a collapsible tube on the holder. the clip is removed from the support and the turned-over end 23 of the tube 24.- inserted between the legs of the clip, the latter being then engaged with the slot 18 in the manner shown in Fig. 1 of the drawings. The said slot is of such width as to prevent the turned-over end of the collapsible tube from passing through the legs of the clip. The tube is thus properly suspended from the support. In order to remove material from the tube, its screw cap, not shown, is disengaged from the screwthreaded nipple of the tube, the latter squeezed in the well known manner, and, after the desired quantity of material has been removed, the said cap is put in-place.
The modification illustrated in Figs. 4 and 5 of the drawings differs from the one above described only in that the sections 13, 14, 15 and 16 are missing, and the slot is provided in the plate member 11 thereof. The said plate member is also provided with openings 25 for receiving the handles of the brushes, to support the latter.
What I claim is:
A holder for collapsible tubes comprising a plateshaped supporting element provided with an open slot extending from one of the edges of said plate member toward the opposite edge thereof, and a clip having two substantially parallel legs united by a resilient how, each of said legs being provided in its outer surface With a longitudinal groove said legs being adapted to be engaged with the tu1-ned-over end of a collapsible tube and said grooves being adapted to receive the longitudinal edges of said slot, said slot being of a Width to prevent the turned over end of the collapsible tube from passing through the legs of said clip, said clip being adapted to be inserted lengthwise into said slot through the open end of the latter.
fiiigned at New York, in the county of New York and State of New York, this 12th day of August, A. D. 1926.
