ERWIN WAIDANZ, OF CHICAGO, ILLINOIS.
COMBINED TOILET ARTICLE.
Application filed December 28, 1926. Serial No. 157,558.
The present invention is directed to improvements in combined toilet articles.
The primary object of the invention is to provide a unitary structure constructed and arranged in such manner as to include a brush, comb and mirror.
Another object of the invention is to provide an article of this kind wherein the comb and mirror will be concealed 'from View and protected against loss and damage, but at the same time, can be quickly brought into use when desired. l Y
Another object of the invention is to provide an article of this nature `having novel means for holding the comb against acci- 'dental disengagement when the mirror is being used. i In the accompanying drawing:
Figure 1 is a. sectional view showing thev sections unfolded.
Figure 2 is a transverse sectional view there-through.
Figure 3 is a perspective view of a modiied form of the invention.
Referring to the drawing, 1 designates a bodyv consisting of top and bottom sections 2 and 3, respectively, said sections being connected by hinges a, the section 3 having secured in its under surface the usual bristles 5.
The upper surface of the section 3 is vprovided with an elongated recess 6 and in which is removably mounted the comb 7, this comb having a wire loop 8 carried thereby to facilitate the removal thereof from the recess.
The recess has one ot its longitudinal walls formed with an overhanging {iange 9 to provide a groove 10. while the opposite longitib dinal wall has secured thereto a bow string 11, the purpose of which will be later eX- plained.
The top section has its inner face formed i with a recess 12 and in which is suitably seagainst breakage when said section is closed,
cured a mirror 13 obviously protected or resting upon the section 3. In order to hold the sections closed, a hook 14 is pivotally connected to the section 2 and is adapted'to receive the stud 15 carried by the section 3. When the ysections are in their closed positions the device can be'conveniently grasped and used for brushing pur- Vpoints of the teeth thereof are placed in the groove 10 and upon pressing lightly there on, the rear edge of the comb will flex the spring as the comb ventersthe recess. It will be obvious that the spring will urge the comb in the yieldable engagement within the groove, thereby securely holding the comb in the recess.v To remove the comb it is only necessary to grasp the loop 11 and upon pull p ing upwardly thereon, the comb can be easily and quickly removed for use.
In the modified form of the invention, as shown in Figure 3, a back 17 is provided and has the usual bristles, said back being formed with a longitudinally. extending recess 18 in which the comb 19. is removably engaged. The upper surface of the back is provided with a recess 20 in which is secured a mirror 22.
Having thus described the invention, I claim:`
An article of the class described, comprising a pair of hingedlv connected sections, one of said sections having a recess therein and having one of its Walls formed with a groove, a spring carriedk by another wall for engaging the back of a comb to hold the saine within the recess Wit-h its teeth terminals en' gaged yiel'dably yin said groove.
In testimony whereofI aHiX my si gnature.
