In the drawings, wherein for the purpose of illustration is shown a preferred embodyment of my invention, the numeral 5 designates a handle provided at its rear end with an eyefi in order that the same may be hung upon a hook or the like. The forward end of the handle carries a ferrule 7.

The holding jawsof the device are formed from a singular section of wire, bent transv versely upon Itself at 8 and continued beyond this bent portion 8 in straight jaw ,tions 11 are spaced from and arranged opposite seetions9, and these sections are included in the pair ofoppositely arranged jaws. The sections converge at 12, at their rear ends, and these converging portions are twisted at 13, and are embedded within the forwaird end of the handle 5, inwardly of the ferrule 7.

The holding element embodies a trans verse'loop 1 1, adapted to receive the two aws embodying sections9 and 11, Figures 1 andQ; The loop 14: is formed ofwire and one end of the loop is continued in the form of a straight shank 15, having a laterally bent hook 16 at its rear end. The shank 15 is adapted to operate within the diverging portions 12 and the hook 16 engages over these portions at the point of twisting, as shown. The loop 1 1 when moved forwardly upon the jaws also engages a scrubbing element 17,which may be a rubber sponge or the like. This scrubbing element is held between the jaw sections 11 and 9 of the opposed jaws. The sponge 17 being resilient it tends to move the loop 14: rearwardly, and locks the hooked end 16 and the shank is securely locked in engagement with the twisted portion 13.

In the use of the device the rounded end 16 of the hook 16 may be engaged with the forward end of the thumb whereby the holdin element is shifted forwardly longitudina 1y. This will enable the hook 16 to-be disengaged from the twisted portion 13 and the loop 14 may then slide off of the jaw section 9, this jaw then moving away from the opposite jaw. The desired scrubbing element such as a rubber sponge may now be inserted between the jaws and the jaws moved together. The loop 14 is now passed over the upper jaw and the loop moved forwardly so that the hook 16 may be engaged over the twisted portion 13.

It is to be understood that the form of 1 my. invention herewith shown and described,

is to be taken as a preferred exampleof the same, and that various changes in the shape, size and arrangement of parts maybe re-i sorted to without departing from the spirit of my invention or the scope of the subj oined claims. j Having thus described my invention, I claim: 1 a

A mop holder of the character described comprising a jaw formed of a spaced pair of sections of wire which have their rear ends twisted, a co-acting jaw connected to the first named jaw and extending longi-' tudinally thereof, a loop permanently mounted upon the first named jaw and adapted to be placed upon and removed from the second named jaw, such loop carrying a longitudinal shank having a hook to engage over the twisted portion of the first named jaw, and a handle having the twisted portion of the first named jaw secured thereto.

2. A mop holder of the character described comprising a jaw formed of a pair of spaced sections of wire having their rear ends twisted. said sections of wire being bent transversely at the forward ends of the first named'jaw to form a second jaw disposed opposite the first named j aw, a loop slidahly mounted upon the first named jaw and adapted to receive the second named jaw,

said loop having ashank provided with a hook to engage the twisted, portions of the first named jaw, and a handle carrying said twisted portions.

3. A mop holder of the character de scribed comprising, a pair of oppositely disposed yieldahle jaws. one of said jaws includin a pair of elements spaced. apart throug h thQIllilJOl portions of their length mounted upon the jaws, a shank secured to the loop and having a hook to engage with said V-shaped crotch, and a. handle secured to the rear end of the first mentioned jaw.
