IMPROVEMENT IN DOOR-SECURERS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 164,688, dated June 22, 1575; application tiled May 6, 1875.
To all whom it may concernf Be it known that I, LOUIS MARKS, of San p Francisco city and county, State ot' California, have invented an Improved Door-Bolt Attachment; and I do hereby declare the following description and accompanying drawings are sufficient to enable any person skilled in the art or science to which it most nearly appertains to make and use my said invention without further invention or experiment.
My improvement consists in providing an ordinary door-boltwith a flange or plate attachment, which Will serve as a means of attaching the bolt to the door, either in a temporary manner, Or permanently, as desired.
In order to more fully describe my invention, reference is had to the accompanying drawing, forming part of this specitication, in Which- Figure l is a side View of my bolt. is a perspective View.
A represents an ordinary sliding door-bolt, such as is usually fastened to the inside face Ot' a door-frame, so that the bolt can be shot into a socket On the door. My improvement is in attaching a iiange or plate, B, to the end of the base-plate of the bolt, which will stand at right angles to the bolt, as shown. On the inside of this plate I form or attach to it one or more project-ions or spurs, e e. This liange Fig. 2
to fasten the door in the usual Way.
This detachable door-bolt will be especially useful for travelers, who are frequently compelled to sleep in rooms having defective doori'astenings, as it can be applied in an instant, and will furnish a perfectly secure fastening.

Having thus described my invention, What I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
lhe sliding bolt A, in combination with the ange or plate B, provided with spurs e e, and with means for permanently attaching it to the door, it' desired, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
