.IMPROVEMENT IN SASH-H'OLDERS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 124,949, datcdMarch 26, 1872; antedatedMarch 9, 1872.
We, ALONZO and LEANDERL. GRIFFIN, of the city of Scranton, Luzerne county, Pennsylvania, have invented an Improved Sash- Holder, of which the following is a specification, in the drawing forming part of which Figures 1 and 2 are side elevations, and Fig. 3 a perspective view.
This invention relates to a device of that kind which operates both to fasten the lower sash of a window when down, by means of a projecting foot; and to hold it when raised by means of an eccentric-head, in combination with a plate having a slot, through which said foot passes when fastening the sash, and having also an elastic flange, which is interposed between the eccentric-head and the sash to prevent the one from marring the other by pressing against it.
Referring to the drawing, a is the aforesaid plate, the same being intended to be screwed to the side strip of a window-frame. b is the fastener-foot, and c the holding-head, the latter being pivoted upon a screw that passes through the plate a into the side strip. 01 is the elastic flange, the same standing at right angles with the plate a, and parallel with and nearly touching the lower sash, said flange having a slot, e, through which the foot b passes when fastening down the sash, and being separated from the plate a for its whole length above said slot, a sea1n,f, intervening between the flange and plate, owing to which construc tion when the head 0 .is turned against the flange d the latter is pressed against the sash, thus preventing the head from indenting it.
