LIP-error: HOLDER.
Applicationflled November 4, 1926. Serial No. 146,164.
This invention relates to certain new and useful improvements in lip st ck holders and the primary object thereof 1s to provide a holder which enables a worn lip stick to beeasily and quickly removed. and a fresh one applied.
A further object of the invention is to provide a holder which has a novel means of simple, compact and economical construe-- tion for effecting easy, quick and posltive showing the parts in operative position, the
lip stick being partly in side evation; Figure 3 is a detail side elevation of the lip stick in detached position; Figure 4 is a fragmentary side elevation of a modified form of attachment of the 11p stick to the holder, and
Figure 5 is a view similar to Fig. 4 of a further modified form of the invention.
In proceeding in accordance with the present invention a sleeve-like casing 1 1s employed having an intermediate head 2 that forms a stop for a cap 3. A rotatable circular head 4 engages the base of the casing 1 and carries an inner sleeve 5, the latter being surrounded by an outer sleeve 6, the sleeve 5 having its upper end beaded at 7 and en gaged by an inturned flange 8- at the upper end of the casing 1, thereby to hold the sleeve 5 against axial movement while permitting of rotation thereof.
The sleeve 5 is longitudinally slotted at 9 while the sleeve 6 is stationary with respect to the casing and is formed with a spiral Slot i A metallic base or ferrule 11 is secured to the base end of a lip stick 13 and is formed with a depressed bayonet-slot 12, the, dea pressing o stick to the ferrule, .as 15. apparent from teat 15that engages in the bayonet slot, 12
the second sleeve and seated at the metal acting to lock the lipthereby to afford, with the latter, a means of detachably' securing the lip stick to the carrler; I v
For the purpose of effecting movement of the carrier 14 into and out of the casing, a transverse pin 16 is secured to the carrier and projects beyond the latter, through slot 9 and into the spiral slot' 10. From the foregoing it will be apparent that rotation of the head 4 will effect movement of the carrier and thereby the lipstick into and out of the casing.
In Fig. 4 of the drawings a modified form A Of connection of the'lip stick. to thecarrier 14 is shown and wherein the latter has threads 17 receiving threads 18"of a ferrule 19, the latter threads being depressed so asto lock the lip stick to the ferrule.
In 5 a still further modified form of connect1on is shown and wherein the'carrier 14" has a contracted tubular and tapered extension frictionallyreceivlng on its in-' terior a tapered ferrule 21 frictionally 'secured to the lip stick.
In all forms of the invention it will be seen that the lip stick ,can-bezeasily con-x nected to and disconnected from the carrier.
Havlng thus described my invention what I claim as new and desire ;-to .,-secure by Letters Patent; is r- I a lip stick holder, an inner sleeve havlng ahead on its lower end and having an axial slot extending throughout'its length sa d head being formed with a pair. 0 stepped circular peripheral seats, a spirally slotted sleeve surrounding the inner'sleeve and seated at its bottom endon the inner seat, the upper end of the inner sleeve being beaded outwardly to overlie the of thesecond sleeve so as to, hold sleeve on its seat, said axial slot through the said bead, a casingformed of uniform thickness of material surrounding upper end the second on the second seat and having its upper end bent inwardly to overlie and engage the beaded'u'pper end of the inner sleeve, and a lip stick carrier sleeve in the firstsleeve having a ferrule removably received in the upper end of the carrier,-said inwardly 'extending bent upper end Fi' re 2. viding a stop for the pin.
i tubular carrier 14 slides within the. inner sleeve 5 and isformed with adepressed,
of the casing pro- In testimony whereof I ,have ,hereunto signed my. name.
