In use the powder container com rising the mel'nbers 1c and 20 may be inserted in the body member 10 ot' the box and left loose therein, or the rim of the cover 20 may be made of a size to substantially lit the insule of the body 10 with a suitable frictional engagement to keep the container from tailing out. To facilitate removal of the container from the box and also to facilitate separation of the closure 20 and the member 16 the rim 23 may be provided with a raised portion 27 for insertion of a linger nail. By insertion of the nail at this point, it the container is loose in the box, it may be easily lifted out and removed therefrom, and then the closure 20 may be easily separated from the cupped member 16 by merely passing the nail around between the flanges 17 and a short distance. After the powder has been renewed the container may be quickly and easily sealed by merely pressing the two members together. If desired the cupped member 16 may be permanently fastened in the body member 10 of the box by any suitable means, such as cement, and in this arrangement the closure 20 may be as easily removed in the same manner by merely inserting a linger nail under the raised portion 27 and passing it around under the flange 2;).

It will be apparent from the foregoing de-- scription that the construction is a very simple one, but that a container is provided for loose powder which may be used in place of the ordinary compact, and which will allow the user to use her favorite brand oi powder in these boxes. l urthermore, it will be apparent that the renewal or change of powder mav be quickly and easily etlected and a very ell'eetive seal is provided between the seiarable members of the container which will prevent leakage of the loose powder :t'rom the container.

1. In a vanity box, hinged cover and body sections, and an insert for one off said sections comprising a cupped powder container provided with a laterally projecting flange about its upper periphery, and a cover for cloning the same having a depression to [it tightly into the top of the cupped member and having a laterally extending flange to rest on the flange of the cupped member, the center portion or the cover being flexible and resilient and provided with openings :tor passage ol powder.

An insert for vanity boxes comprising a cupped member having a laterally extending flange about its upper periphery, and a closure for said member having a depressed central portion to lit tightly in the top of said cupped member and provided with a laterally extending peripheral flange to rest on the flange of the cupped member, the central portion of the closure being flexible and resilient and provided with openings for passage of powder.

An insert for vanity boxes comprising a cupped. member having a laterally extending flange about. its upper periphery, and a closure for said member having a depressed central portion to lit tightly in the top of said cupped member and 1i rovided with a laterally extending peripheral flange to rest on the flange of the cupped lnember, the central portion of the closure being flexible and resilient and provided with openings for passage of powder, and also provided with a,

7. A vanity box comprising hinged body and cover members, and awloose powder container forming an insert for one of said members, said container having a flexible re silient top wall bowed Upwardly at its central portion capable of being depressed by pressure and tending to spring back to its original position afterthe pressure is removed, said top wall being provided with openings for passage of powder from the oontalner, said top wall belng also provided with a raised rib about said openings, and a puff held on said wall and against the rib by the other member to form a seal.

8. In a vanitybox, hingedcover and body sections, a loosepowder container forming an insert for one of said sections, and a closure for said container bowedupwardly at its central portion capable of being depressed container, said closure being also mounted to be raised from the container to permit refilling of the container.

9. An insert for vanity boxes comprising a cupped member forming a container for loose powder said cupped member having a laterally extending flange about its upper periphery, and a closure for said member having a depressed central portion to fit tightly in the top of said cupped member and provided with a laterally extending peripheral flange to rest on the flange of the cupped member and form .a seal therewith, said closure being provided with perforations for passage of powder from the container.
