Description
SAFETY PIN HOLDER Filed Sept. 18. 1926 Patented July 19, 1927.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
ALBERT HAGEL, OF BLOOMFIELD, NEW JERSEY, ASSIGNOR TO CONSOLIDATED SAFETY PIN COMPANY, OF BLOOMFIELD, 'NEW JERSEY.
SAFETY-PIN HOLDER.
Application filed September 18, 1926. Serial No. 136,371.
'lhe object of the present invention is to provide a simple and inexpensive holder .for safety pins suitable for use on the dressing table, and therefore of ornamental character, the parts being so formed and arranged that provision is made for holding pins of Vvarious sizes, separated in accordance with size. The holding means permit ready re. mov-al of individual pins, and at the same time the device holds the pins against displacement therefrom regardless of the position in which it is held.
The invention will be understood by reference to the accompanying drawings, in which Fig. l is a view in elevation of an embodiment, the base being shown in section, and
Fig. 2 is a plan view of said embodiment.
The embodiment of the invention illustrated in the drawings comprises a base member l to which is attached (as by headed reduced depending stem 2) a standard 3. The standard may be enlarged at its upper end 3X to provide a convenient linger piece by which the device may be grasped when pins are being removed.
In the present embodiment, each rod comprises two holding sections, one section being on .each side of a rivet 6 which passes through the opposed base portions 4X of the two rods shown and serves to connect the rods to standard 3. One holding-section of each rod is sharply bent outwardly from its base portion A* and then is bent reversely substantially at right angles with the base portion, whilst the second holding section of the said rod is sharply bent outwardly then is bent reversely and substantially parallel with the base portion. When the two rods are assembled, as shown in Fig. 2
the end of Vone section meets and exerts spring pressure upon the reverse bend of another section.
By means of the spring pressure action of the ends of the rods upon adjacent bends, the safety pins are held against release from the device except when one is grasped and slid along the rod upon which it is mounted with the slight, but sufficient, force to move the end against its tension. It will be noted that the pins held on a rod-section back of thei reverse bend are guarded by two spring en s.
In the construction of the device the rods may be of sufficiently light gauge metal as to receive the eyes of the smallest boudoir or baby pins, and the holder sections may carry an assortment of sizes, one size on each section.
Various modifications may be made in the form and arrangement of the parts without departing from the spirit of my invention.
What I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent is as follows:
l. A safety pin holder comprising a support, a plurality of rods on said support, each rod being bent to form a plurallty of horizontally extending differently directed sections and in such manner that one bend of a rod contacts with a second rod near the end thereof, the two in conjunction serving as a stop against undue displacement of pins on the rods.
2. A safety pin holder comprising a base, a standard rising from the base, and two rods each secured intermediate its ends on the standard in horizontal position, each rod having two holding sections and each section extending outwardly from its point of connection with the standard and then being reversely bent, ends of sections abutting bends in such manner that stops are provided against undue displacement of pins.
In testimony whereof, I have signed my name to this specification.
ALBERT HAGEL.
