Patented June 28, 1927.
UNITED STATES CHARLES VAITULIS, 015 DETROIT, MICHIGAN.
TOOTHBRUSH HOLDER.
Application filed August 28, 1925.
My invention relates to a new and useful improvement in a tooth brush holder, and has for its object the provision of a receptacle or cabinet which may be used for posi tioniug tooth brushes therein so as to support them in a position which will permit their drying and the free circulation of air thereabout', while at the same time preventing the accumulation or gathering of dust or other foreign materials on the tooth brush when not in use.
Another object of the invention is the provision of a tooth brush holder of this class which is simple in structure, economical of manufacture and highly efiici ent in use.
Another object of the invention is the provision of a tooth brush-holder having a minimum number of parts and so constructed and arranged as to permit a ready assembling and disassembling so that cleansing and disinfecting of the holder may be quickly and easily accomplished.
Other objects will appear hereinafter.
The invention consists in the combination and arrangement of'parts hereinafter described and claimed.
The invention will be best understood from a reference to the accompanying drawings which form a part of this specification, and in which,
Fig. 1 is a side elevational view of the inveuti on Fig. 2 is a longitudmal vertical central sectional view of the invention, 4
Fig. 8 is a sectional view taken on substantially line 83 of Fig. 2.
As shown in the drawings, the invention comprises a receptacle 7 having a bottom 8 provided with an opening 9. Hingedly mounted on the receptacle is a door 10 for closing the opening 11, a suitable catch 12 being provided. The rear end of the receptacle 7 is provided with a tongue 13 which is punched from its main body and slightly offset so as to engage a hook or other supporting surface by which the receptacle may be hung on the wall. or other desirable place. A cap 14.- having flanges 15 and provided with a thread 16 adapted for engaging the bead 17 is used as a closure for the upper end of the receptacle the cap beformed therein.
Serial No. 52,991.
ing threaded on in a well-known manner. Thecap 14 is provided with an opening 18, in alignment with the opening 9. A shaft 1.9 having reduced ends adapted for entering the openings 18 and 9 is provided, this shaft being rotatably positioned in these openings. Fixedly mounted on the shaft 19 adjacent the upper end thereof is a metal disc 20 provided on its periphery with a series of notches, each having the enlarged portion 21 and the restricted neck-forming portion 22. These notches are so arranged as to permit the passage of the handle 28 of the tooth brush therethrough when turned sidewise. After passing through the restricted portion the brush may be then turned at right angles so as to engage in the enlarged opening 21. In this way the brush is mounted on the disc 20 as shown in Fig. 2. It is evident that a number of brushes may be supported by the disc, depending upon the number of peripheral notches The disc 20 may be rotated, the shaft 19 turning with it.
If it is desired to remove the parts for replacement or for cleansing, the screw cap 14 may be removed, after which the shaft 19 and disc 20 may be withdrawn.
The simplicity of the structure is believed evident, and its durability, which is also evident, a desirable feature in a device of this class. The number of parts has been reduced to a minimum so as to effect the desired economy of manufacture.
lVhile I have illustrated and described the preferred form of construction, I do not wish to limit myself to the precise details of structure shown in the drawings, but desire to avail myself of such variations and modifications as come within the scope of the appended claim.
Having thus described my invention what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
A tooth brush holder of the class described, comprising a receptacle having an opening formed centrally in its bottom; a tongue punched from said receptacle and outwardly offset therefrom for engagement with a supporting member; a removable cap mounted on said receptacle and having an openings; a disc fixedly mounted on said shaft and provided with a plurality of peripheral notches each adapted for the reception of a tooth brush handle, said shaft and said disc being removable from said receptacle upon removal of said cap from said receptacle.
In testimony whereof I have signed the foregoing specification.
CHARLES VAITULIS.
