L'WTMSSE: i
Patented May 18, 1920;.
UNITED STATES PATENT oiunon.
IRWIN BRANDON, OF NAUGHTON GLEN, ALBERTA, CANADA.
COMB-CLEANER.
Application filed June 16, 1919.
1 0 all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, IRWIN BRANDON, a subject of the King of Gredt Britain, residing at Naughton Glen, in the county of Alta and Dominion of Canada, have invented new and useful Improvements in Gombflleaners, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to comb cleaning devices and has for its object the provision of a device which may be permanently or otherwise secured in position, so as to be at all times convenient foruse.
Another object is to provide in connection with a comb cleaning device, a rack for holding the comb, so that after the comb has been cleaned it will be conveniently located for future use.
lVith the above and other objects in view,
the invention includes the following novel features and details of construction, to be hereinafter more fully described and illus-. trated in the accompanying drawings.
In the drawings:
Figure 1 is a perspective view of the invention,
Fig. 2 is a central longitudinal sectional view of the same.
Referring to the drawings in detail, wherein like characters of reference denote corresponding parts, the invention comprises a frame, which is formed of side bars 10, the latter including parallel upright portions 11, provided with openings 12. These openings are designed. for the passage of screws or similar fastening devices and provide means for securing the device to a suitable support, located in convenient position for use. Extending upwardly from the lower ends of the upright portions 11, are arms '13, the latter terminating in outwardly extending projections 14:. The side bars are connected together through the medium of transverse spacing bars 15, which are provided with spaced notches 16, for the reception of strands of fine wire or other flexible material 17 the latter being wound Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented May 18, 1920.
Serial No. 304,556.
about the bars, as shown. The projections 14: serve as a support for a brush '18, so that after the teeth of the comb have been cleaned upon the wire 17, the said teeth may be sub jected to a further cleaning by means of the brush 18. As illustrated, the side bars 10 are of angular shape, the formation providing a continued rack for the reception of a comb. To provide for holding the comb in position upon the rack, there is located at the juncture of the vertical portions 11 and the outwardly and upwardly inclined portions 13, projections 20, which may be riveted or otherwise secured to the side bars.
The invention provides an exceedingly simple and convenient article for the purpose intended and one that may be manufactured and sold at a small cost.
The invention is susceptible of various changes in its form, proportions and minor details of construction and the right is herein reserved to make such changes as properly fall within the scope of the appended claim.
Having described the invention, what is claimed is:
An article of the class described comprising a frame including side bars formed of parallel vertical portions to provide attaching means, outwardly and upwardly inclined portions extending from the lower ends and forming a continuation of the vertical portions and reversely inclined extensions forming a continuation of and projecting from the outer ends of the inclined portions, transversely disposed notched spacing bars connecting the upper ends of the side bars and the outer ends of the inclined portions, strands of flexible material positioned in said notches and connecting the spacing bars, a brush carried by the reversely inclined extensions and parallel projections extending upwardly from the juncture of ithe vertical and inclined portions of the side bars and cooperating with said vertical portions to provide a rack.
In testimony whereof 1 aflix my signature.
