Description
A. GRAN,
COMB CLEANER.
APPLICATION FILED AUGHI. 1921.
Patented Apr. 18, 1922.
alibo'bmgl Ub lllTEE sarsnr ALBERT GRAN, OF CHICAGO, ILLINOIS, ASSIGNOR OF ONE-HALF TO ERNEST T. ADELL, OF CHICAGO, ILLINOIS.
COMB CLEANER.
Application filed August 1, 1921.
To all to from it may concern Be it known that I, ALBERT GRAN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented new and useful Improvements in Comb Cleaners, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to devices for cleaning combs and consisting of a plurality of laterally spaced strands adapted to enter the spaces between the teeth of the comb to remove therefrom all accumulated matter.
The invention has for its object to provide a device of the kind stated in which the lateral spacing of the strands may be varied to adapt the device to combs of various sizes and spacing of teeth.
With the object stated in view, the invention consists in a novel combination and ar rangement of parts to be hereinafter described and claimed, and in order that the same may be better understood, reference had to the accompanying drawing forming a part of this specification.
In the drawing, Figure 1 is a perspective view of the device, and Fig. 2 is an enlarged plan view partly broken away, showing the device adjusted to bring the strands closer together.
Referring specifically to the drawing, 5 denotes the cleaning strands of the device. the same being made of any suitable material. These strands are stretched across frame consisting of end bars 6 connected by parallel side rods 7 having upturned end portions 8 to enter loosely int-o apertures made in the bottom of the end bars. This construction provides a pivotal connection between the end bars and the side rods to enable the former to be set in an oblique direction, as shown in Fig. by which the Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Apr. 318, 1922.
Serial No. 488,948.
strands are brought closer together than when said end bars are perpendicular relative to the side rods as shown in Fig. 1.
Fig. 1 clearly illustrates how the device is used. The comb, shown at 9, is positioned so that the strands 5 come between the comb teeth, and upon sliding the comb back and forth, and up and down, all accumulated matter between the teeth is scraped out by the strands.
Any suitable means may be provided for anchoring the strands 5 to the end bars 6, such as pegs or pins; 10 around which the material may be wound to extend back and forth in parallelism between the end bars, the ends being secured by a screw 11 on one of the end bars.
As the device is adjustable to vary the spacing of the strands, it is adapted for combs of different sizes and spacing of teeth.
I claim:
1. A comb cleaner consisting of a plurality of laterally spaced scraper strands, and a supporting frame therefor consisting of end bars to which the strands are anchored at their ends, and parallel side members extending between. and having a pivotal connection with the ends bars.
2. A comb cleaner consisting of a plurality of laterally spaced scraper strands, and a supporting frame therefor consisting of end bars to which the strands are anchored at their ends, and parallel side members extending between the end bars and having upturned ends, the end bars having bottom apertures in which said upturned ends loosely seat to provide a pivotal connection between the side members and the end bars.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature.
ALBERT GRAY.
