e v. GUINZBURG COMBINED BRASSIE RE AND DRESS SHIELD Filed Nov. 12. 1925 IINVENTOR Wcczor yuan/26a? BY f its ATTORNEY Patented 31 514.1927. I
" L I 1,632, 41" I it 371C103, fi znimG or" seasons; in YQ, iissrenon 'ro tenement RUBBER oorrbo m sa s l f witnesses:
3 r hpiilic at ion area NdvernbrlZQlQSi 'ser'iaino. easzai This invention relates to a garment "worn bywomed and theobject of theinvention is to provide aeombination garment for the urposes supporting the bust aswell as heretofore made, somefditficulty was'hadin providing a satisfactory fit of the garment and especially in providing a desirable and snug iitof' the protective shields incorporated in the garment at the arm pits where said shields are located. In someoonstr'uc-' tionsin use at the present time, the shoulder straps which support the garment from the shoulders of'the wearer are securedto thearm pit shields "rather than to the body of the: garment with the result that said shoulder straps are positioned over the away from the arm pits. i'
shoulders at such a point where they can readily slide ofi' causing the shields to; drop i l The 11151111 object therefore, of this'inven- 'fpo'sitions at" all times despite movements of,
tion is to provide a garment of the character herein mentioned and in" which the. garment will properly fit the wearer and will hold the protective arm pit shields in their proper V the body.
WVith these objects and such other objects asmayhereinafter appear, in view, I have devised. theparticular arrangement of parts hereinafter set forth and more particularly pointed out .in the claim appended hereto.
Reference is to be had to theacc'ompanying drawing, forming a part hereof, m which Figure 1 is a front'elevation of my im-.

preferably made eta-continuousstrip of light-weight fabric, particularly Fi ure'Q 's a lan view of the same.
a; r I r 'Throughout. the various VlGWS of the drawing, similar, reference characters designate similar parts.
' Infthe preferred vention as disclosed in. the accompanying drawing, -1 indicates the front part of the body of the garment and 2; indicates the The entirebody of the garment is mesh knitted fabric.
' Thebody of the garment is made'l full and i is contracted aboutits upper andlower'edges" by means ofelasLtic bandsB andc i which are 5 secured 1 along the edges of the body. Through this constructiomi a snug and even "(fit of the garment-is assured as the same is embodiment of my in-[ an open resiliently contracted aboutthejparts of the ibody, jthe front area 1- of the garment being *-,d1* awn' smoothly'and evenlyoverfthe bust f and affordingl'support'therefor. f affording protection from perspiration at the arm pits, In, garments of this character At 5 and e? are the arm ,pitshields, 55th of which comprisesa body flap 7 and an arm i flap 8, said flaps 7 and 8 being joined on at Curved line 9 in the conventional manner..
The body flap 7-is secured Within the body H of the garment and rests against the body of. i the wearer. The arm flap 8 is provided With j a supporting loop 10 which fits over the arm of the wearer and holds the flap in position.
proper position and cannot readily fall away from the arm pit areas. 4
It will be seen that the widest part ofthe.
body of the garment is located just in front of and directly behind the arm pit shields A it i or in other words, the top edge of the body of the garment extends out as "at 14 onv a substantially straight line from the highest point of the bodyvflaps .7 on the shields."
Thus, the shoulder. straps 12 being secured to the upper edge of the body atits widest points and ata distance from the location of'the arm pit shields are so positioned that f they rest over the shoulders at somelittle distance from the arm pits and thus rest upon a substantially horizontalpart ofthe p 9G I shoulder and cannot readily slide therefrom. These-straps :12 being so locatedmaintain their position and tend tohold the arm pit shields securely at their proper positions; 1
Said straps 12 are aided in maintaining their respective positions onthe shoulders of the wearer and the positions ofthe shields are maintained at the arm-pits by reason of the fact that parts 14 of the. elastic top edge of the garment lie between thepointsof secure--' p I 10G The straps 12 thus exert an elastic upwardpull on the shields and holds ment of the shoulder straps 12 and the'armpit shields.
them in position.
The upper edgeof the garment between the points of location of the straps 12 are downwardly curved as is clearly disclosed in Figure 1. 4
' From the foregoingyit is obvious that invention is not to be restricted to the-exact embodimentshown but is broad enough to cover all structures coming within the scope of the annexed claim.
What I claim is An article of the class described consist- 'ing of a garment having a body portion composed of a continuous strip of light, openmesh fabric adapted .to extend around the body'of the wearer and enclose the busts, the upper and lower edges of said strip being made expansible by means consisting of elastic bands secured along said edges, arm pit shields vsecured in said body, each of said shields being composed of a body flap and an arm flap, the body of the garment having its Widest parts located in front of 15 and at the back of said shields, the top edges of the widest parts of said strip extending at least as high as the top of the body flap on each shield, and shoulder straps secured to the expansible top edges of the strip at positions remote from the shields, so that parts of the expansible top edge of the strip are located between the point of securement of the shoulder straps and the shields.
Signed at the city, county and State of 25 New York, this 6th vday of November, 1925.
