BRUSH.
- Application filed October 12, 1925. Serial No. 61,883.
Our invention relates to improvements in fountain brushes and has for its object the provision of an improved construction of this character which is of simple construction, capable of economical manufacture and highly eflicient in use. e
Other objects will appear hereinafter.
Our invention consists in the combinations and arrangements of parts hereinafter described and claimed.
Our invention will be best understood by reference to the accompanying drawings forn'iing a part of this specification, and in which,
Fig. 1 is a top plan view of the brush embodying the invention;
Fig. 2 is a side view of the same;
Fig. 3 a top plan View of the brush with the cover removed; and
Fig. at a vertical section of the brush.
The preferred form of construction as illustrated in the drawings comprises a circular aluminum body 5 having bristles 6 mounted therein and projecting from one side thereof, there being perforations 7 extending through said body and interspersed between said bristles as shown. The brush body 5 is provided with a removable dome shaped. cover 8 also of aluminum and provided with a peripheral flange 9 secured by four screws 10 to said body, a rubber gasket 11 being interposed between'said flange and said body. As will be noted the rubber gasket 11 is in the form of a flat annular ring extended radially well beyond the edges of the body 5 said gasket thus serving-to prevent leakage out'of the distributing chamber formed by the cover Sand also serving as a guard to prevent splashing or dripping of the washing fluid onto the user of the brush and a spring buffer to prevent injury to highly polished furniture. The body 5 is provided with a rubber ring 12 set in a groove in the periphery thereof said ring also serving as a-guardmember to prevent the marring of highly polished furniture by the edges of the brush.
While we have illustrated and described the preferred form of construction for carrying our invention into effect, this is capable of variation and modification without departing from the spirit of the invention. We, therefore, do not wish to be limitedv to the precise details of construction setforth, but desire to avail ourselves of such variations and modification as come within the sco 3e of the appended claim.
. aving described our inwention, what we claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is: l
A fountain brush comprising a body;
bristles mounted in said'body and projecting from one side thereof, there being perforations extending through said body interspersed between said bristles; a removable cover for said body forming. therewith a distributing chamber over said perforations; a rubber gasket between said cover and body, said gasket being in the form of a flat annular ring extended radially beyond said body to form a guard, a rubber guard memher on said body below said gasket, said body being formed with a peripheral groove and said guard member being set in said groove; and means for supplying washing fluid to said chamber, substantially as described. r
In testimony whereof we have signed our names to this specification.
