Abstract

Manhole covers.-A manhole cover is provided with a closely-fitting seat for engagement with the frame comprising bottom machined surfaces c, e, L-shaped in cross-section, and a top cylindrical machined surface b, preferably of larger diameter than the surface c, the said seatings being combined with circumferentially arranged screwed studs k on the cover which abut against the surface e for the purpose of starting the cover from its seat. To ensure the exclusion of water, an auxiliary cover n, removably secured by screwed studs o and having a rubber seating p, may be provided.
