DISPLAY STAND.
Application filed September 23, 1925. Serial No. 58,163.
This invention relates to display stands, and more particularly to display stands or racks for dolls.
An object of the invention is to proyide a stand for supporting a doll in an upright position, which is adjustable for the purpose of receiving dolls of different heightsand sizes.
A further object is to provide a device of simple construction having a base and standard, the standard being adapted to receive a resilient supporting member which is adj ustably mounted therein.-
In the accompanying drawings, we have shown one embodiment of the invention. In this showing:
Figure 1 is a perspective view,
Figure 2 is a central vertical sectional View,
Figure 3 is a horizontal sectional view on line 33 of Figure 2, and,
Figure t is a detail view of the lower end of the standard.
Referring to the drawings, the reference numeral 1 designates a base which may be p of any desired size and shape, and which is preferably formed of metal. A vertically disposed standard 2 ismounted on the rear of the base and secured thereto in a suitable manner. As shown (see Figures 2 and 4), a substantially L-shaped member having a pair of arms 3 and 4 is arranged in an opening in the base with the arm at arranged beneath the base and the arm 3 extending vertically through the opening. The arm L is secured to the base in any suitable manner, as by welding, and the standard 2 is secured to the other arm to form a rigid connection.
As shown, the standard is hollow and is adapted to receive a supporting member which encircles the doll to retain it in upright position on the base. This supporting member consists of arms 5, suitably spaced from each other and connected to depending members 6. The supporting member may be formed of wire and is preferably formed of a single piece with the lower ends of the depending members connected by a loop 7. By forming the supporting member of wire, suflicient resiliency may be given to the arms to cause them to engage the sides of the standard and retain the supporting member in an adjusted position. vThe arms 5 maybe spaced any desired distance from each other to permit'the holder to encircle the waist or other part of a doll of any size.
The operation of the device will be apparent from the foregoing description. The supporting member is adjusted to the desired height in thestandard, and the arms 5 arranged around the waist or other part of the doll. The doll is then supported in an upright position 011 the base for display purposes.
The simplicity of the construction will be apparent and the device when in use, enables a doll or other figured toy to be attractively displayed.
t is to be understood that the form of our invention herewith shown and described is to be taken as a preferred example of the same, and that various changes in the shape, size, and arrangement of parts may be re sorted to without departing from the spirit of the invention or the scope of the subjoined claims.
e claim: I y
1. A device of the character described, comprising a substantially flat base having an opening therein and a depending peripheral flange forming a support for the base, an L-shaped member formedof relatively wide flat metal having relatively short vertical and horizontal arms, said vertical arm projecting upwardly through and snugly fitting within the opening in said base, said horizontal arm having its upper face lying flat against and secured to the lower face of said base, and supporting means arranged oversaid base, said means including a hollow standard corresponding in cross sectional shape to and adapted to frictionally receive the upper end of the vertical arm of the said L-shaped member, the lower end of'said standard contacting with said base.
2. A device of the character described,
comprising a substantially flat base having an jecting upwardly through and snugly fitting.
within the opening in said base, said hori zontal arm having its upper face lying flat against and secured to the lower face of said base, a hollow standard corresponding in shape to and adapted to frictionally receive the upper end of the vertical arm of said L-shaped member, the loWer end of said standard contacting with said base, and a support including a pair of arms adapted to receive an article therebetween, said support further including a pair of depending arms slidable in the upper end of said standard.
In testimony whereof, We aflix our signatures.
GEORGE ENGEL. ARNOLD KORNICKER.
