This invention relates to an improved holder and-catch for vanitycase compacts and' has for an objectto' provide an improved construction wherein the holder acts in the double capacity of a holding ring and a catch for locking the lid closed.
Another object of the invention is to provide a holder and catch for vanity cases wherein the holder may be formed as a solid ring or a divided ring with bent portions presenting al corrugated surface acting as means for gripping a'compact Afor holding f the same in position.
A further object, more specifically, is to provide a simple one-piece structure acting in the double capacity of a holder for a locking the lid of In the accompanying drawing- Figure 1 is a perspective view of a vanity case provided with a holder and catch embodying the invention.
Figure 2 is a sectional view through Figure 1 on line 2--2, lthe same being on an enlarged scale.
Figure 3 is an enlarged fragmentary sec- Figure 1 on line 3-3.
Figure 4 is a perspective viewv of the combined catch and holder embodying the invention.
Figure 5'is a view similar to Figure 4 but showing a modified construction wherein section 8 of the compactholder 9. Section.
8 is provided with a pressed out thumb member 10 which acts as means whereby the catch 7 may bev swung away from the catch projection 5. From Figure 4 it` will bev noted that the holder 9 is provided with corrugated sections 11 and v12 which take up the entire structure except the frontsection 8. yIt is evident, however, rugations could be made over the entire 4structureior to a less extent than that shown -cidental removal.
that cori' iwi'thout y`departging invention provided:- 'enough ing or clamping action.-
' r`inzaiiia Afri-)m 'the spirit @faire l corrugations l were lpresentedto-f produce' *the idesi-rediholdy When the ring orholder 9l is placed in the body 1, the reduced portions 13 and' 14 are arranged beneath the hinge 3 while the pressed out portion 10 suitable openingv 15 in positions the structure projects through( a the body. 1. so that the catch 9 This is in proper position for` receiving the eX- `tension 5 when lid 2 is closed. As shown the holder 9 could be vmade a in Figure 5, complete circle without departing from the spirit of the invention and the corrugations caused to function in the same way, namely, to clamp the compIact plate 16 against ac- 't compact Lplate 16, with the cosmetics 17, is old and well known. i
will be understood thaty In the use of the vanity case `as shown'v in Figures 1 and`2.
the cosmetics 17 are gradually used until it is desired to proi vide'` a new supply. When this `is necessary,
one substituted which is filled. As the plate 16is forced into the lposition shown'in `Fig ure 2 it will press tightly against the coriugations of sectionsv clamped againstl accidental removal. y
What I claim is: f
1. In a vanity case having a body formedk with a substantially annular wall having 4an aperture therein and a lid having a projection, a catch and Aa substantially the plate 16 is removed and another.
11 and 12 and bei etk circular compact holder for said case stamp- .metal and diametrically apressed out portion at one ed from a single piece of formed with corrugations on opposite sides, ture so as toact as a. press button, and an apertured, the pressed outy portion for receiving said projection.
2. A vanity case comprising a body formed with a button receiving aperture, a', lid hingedly connected with'the body formed with a flange fitting over part of the body, lsaid` ange .at one point having a pressed out portion acting'as a thumb hold 'and la pressed in `point adaptedvto project through said apeiv extension arranged adjacent portion, and a resilient ring positioned in said body formed with an extension overlapping said pressed in portion, said extension having an aperture for receiving said pressed.
in lportion whereby said pressed in portion and extension will act as a. catch for holdformed with a pressedfout portion adapted lto extend through said button receiving aperture andl act lasl a button for releasing the catch and with resilient portions adaptled to clamp a compact ins'aid body.
3. Al vanity case Comprising a body adapted y to receive a Cornl'o'act,r said body having an aperture therein, a lid hingedly con neoted to .said body,
said lid having a pressed u, l f vin portion, a combined compact holder and the side Walls of saidbody, a pressed out portion adapted to''e'Xtend lthrough said `aperture and act as a button for releasing;V
