Specification forming part of Letters VPatent No. 162,34, dated April 20, 1375; application iiled November 18, 1874.
To all lwhom it may concern:
Be it known that I, AUGUST BUERMANN, of the city ot' Newark, county of Essex and State of New Jersey, have invented certain Improvements in the Construction of Bits for Bridles, of which the following is a specification z The object of the improvement is to afford stationary cheek-pieces in a bridle-bit, to attain which object I construct the bit with the bar or mouth-piece riveted `rmly in the center of a disk or plate at each ot' its ends, providing corresponding disks in which the ring-holder or head is firmly secured. rlwo or more rivets are fast to the inside of the corresponding disks. holes for the rivets on the corresponding disks. The two disks pnt together with the cheekpiece between them, and well riveted, constitute a strong,durable, safe bridle-bit, susceptible of neat, tasty ornamentation, as fancy dictates.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure l is a front view of the bit complete. Fig. 2 is an end view. Fig. 3, an edge view of the outer disk or plate with the rivets projecting from the inside. Fig. 4 isv the inner disk, as provided for being attached to the'mouth-piece and to the outer disk, or, when of malleable iron, disks and mouth-piece can be cast integrally one. Fig. 5 shows the parts combined. a is the bar or mouth-piece, b the outer disk, c the ring-head or holder, d the cheek-piece, and c the inner disk.
What I claim is- The within-described bridle-bit, consisting of the month-piece a., the outer disk b, the ring-head or holder c, the cheek-piece d, and the inner disk e, arranged and connected substantially as shown, and for the purpose set forth.
