lt will thus be seen that I have-provided highly novel, simple and efficient form of";

pencil, one that may be manufactured and marketed in an inexpensive manner. and. that is not liable to easily become out of order, and one wherein the lead may be fed into ow out of the casing of the pencil in a; simple and quick manner.

ring which extends across the slot being of substantially the same width as the length of said sleeve to coneeal the same, a pin having its shank extending through the widened portion of the'ring and through the slot in the casing, the inner end of said pin being threaded into the sleeve whereby said sleeve and said leed may be moved in either direction, and removable means within the other open end of the casing for limiting the movement of the leadcarrying sleeve in said 10 direction.
