citizen ofthe United States, residin(T at Col` bui-11,. in the count of Bonner', btate of Idaho, have invente certainl new and useful Improvements in Pencils; and I do hereby declare the followino' to be a full, clear, and exact description oy the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which 'it a pertains to make and use the' same.
T e invention relates to a pencil and more particularly to th'e class-of pencils having a detachable ferrule carrying an eraser at one end and a knife at the other end.
The primary object of the invention is the rovision of a encil havinvfA at one end an emery strip circumscribing the same, a removable ferrule adapted to inclose the emery strip, a knife mounted upon said lerrule at one end thereof and an eraser secured in the opposite end of said ferrule. Another object of the invention is the provision of a cncil having a removable ferrule carrying a {nife and an eraser," the said ferrule adapted to fit over one end of the enoil when the knife is not to be used an said pencil carrying an einer stri to form a Sharpener for the knife, t 1e sai emery strip being protected by the ferrule when in posi-- tion on the pencil.
With these and other objects in view the invention consists inthe construction, combination and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter more l'ully described and as illus! trated in the accompanyingr drawings which disclose the preferred form ofe'mbodiment of the invention.
