SOUND-AMPLIFYING- HORN.
Application led June 29,
My present invention relates to improvements in sound amplifying horns and aims to provide a horn which will have a maximum length of Sound amplifying space with a minimum of exterior dimensions, and the invention includes the novel construction hereinafter described and defined by the appended claims.
An embodiment of the invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawings in Whichz- Fig. l is a side elevation of such a horn.
ig. 2 is a plan View, and Fig. 3 an end View. y
1.5 Referring by reference characters to this drawing the numeralv l designates the bell member whichis formed of what may be termed cup shape7 perferably of approximately semi-circular form as viewed in side V elevation (Fig. l), but with a flattened circumferential Wall 1"" and flattened sides lb 'p flaring laterally at 1C. 2 designates a neck member which is elongated and tapered and formed into almost a complete circle the eX- 26 terior diameter of which at its Widest point corresponds to the interior diameter of the bell member.
The neck member is inserted in the bell .member as shown in Fig. l so that its ends y 30 are Within the bell member While the interi926. semi No. 119,328.
section, except its smaller end, so as to provide a iat outer circumferential Wall to lie in juxtaposition and lit snugly against the inner circumferential Wall of the bell member.
I have found that an amplifying horn such as described may be easily made of hard rubber as the bell member may be easily molded from such material by the usual molding` processes, While the neck member may be formed by a blowing method such for example as that used in forming the neck of the horn described in Patent 1,536,700 of lllay 5, 1925.
I have further found that such a horn produces very satisfactory results as to sound amplilication.
I claim:
l. A sound amplifying horn comprising a substantially cup shaped bell member and an enlongated curved neck member having one end passing through an opening in the Wall of the bell member and secured thereto and its other end Wit-hin and secured to the Wall of the bell portion and having its open end directed towards the bottom of the bell member.
2. A sound amplifying horn comprising a bell member having a closed inner end and a substantially semi-circular circumferential Wall and an elongated curved tapered neck member having end portions lying substantially Within thc bell member and an intermediate loop projecting from thc mouth of the bell, said neck member having its smaller end projected through an opening in the wall of the bell member.
In testimony whereof7 I affix my signature.
GEORGE W. BULLEY.
