ELECTRIC BARBER/S SCISSORS.
Appli'eationled September 21, 1925. Serial No. 57,684.
The object is the revision oa motor actuated scissors for arbers use in whichthe drive mechanism for one of the blades is supported in a casing on the haft or han- 5 die of the second blade, and wherein the said haft or handle is also provided with finger blades whereby the device is conveniently supported and guided by the operator in a manner to conveniently, easily and accul0 rately cut the hair.
The drawings which accompany and form part of this application illustrate a satisfactoryy embodiment of the improvement reduced to practice and wherein: Figure 1 is a side elevation of the 1mprovement with parts broken away and parts in section. v
Figure 2 is a sectional view on the line 2 2 of Figure 1. Y
20 Figure 3 is a plan view,.of the `drive wheel.
The scissors comprises the usuall cooperating' blades which are pivotally connected together by the usual means 2. One of the blades has a curved haft 3 which 1s round flf in cross section. The haft for the second blade is indicated by the numeral 3 and is of a materially greater length than the haft 3. The haft 3, at .a desired point throughout the lereigth thereof, is widened and the said 80 widen portion is centrally slotted, as'at 5. The outer' lend of the haft 4 is integrally formedwith u er and lower rings 6 and 7 respectively. ese rings provide finger holds for the operator. A web 8 connects 86 the ring 7 with the haft 4, while the ring 6, is provided with a guard finger 9. Both the haft 4 and ring v6 have angularly disposed web extensions which merge into a casing 10. One side of the casin is open andis closed l0 by a cover plate whic is removably secured thereon. In the casing 10 there is Journalcd on a stub shaft 11 a drive Wheel 12. The wheel has peripheral teeth 13 and the periphery of the said wheel is preferably con- .driven wheel journaled in the casing, a
caved. -Pivotally connected to one face of 45 the wheel 12, at a point adjacent to its periphery, there is one end of .a pitman 14. The pitman is guided through the slot 5 and has its outer end bifurcated to provide a rounded fork fork have bearing openings for trunnions 16 on the sdes of a tubular sleeve 17. The sleeve 17 is received over the haft `3 and is ad j ust'ably held thereon by means 18.
he drive wheel 12 has its teeth enga ed 65 by a worm 19 whose shaft 20 is journa ed in suitable bearing openings inthe casing l0, and the shaft 20 has connected thereto a flexible shaft21 which is operated by a suitable electric motor (not shown The simplicity and advantages o the construction will, it is believed, be perfectl apparent to those skilled in the art to which l such invention relates, but it is to be understood that I do not wish to be restricted to the precise details of construction herein set forth and reserve the right' to. make such changes therefromas fall within the sco of what I claim without departing from tiig spirit of my invention.
A barbers shears or scissors having its blades formed with extending hafts, one of which is curved and the other being of a 70 invention, I
`greater length and formed with outer rings providing finger receiving elements, one of said rings on'said longer haft, lhaving ribs thereon which merge into a casing, a motor itman eccentrically secured to the wheel End guided through the last mentioned haft, said pitman having a forked end, a sleeve havin trunnions journaled in the arms of the for and said sleeve received y on the mentioned shorter haft and removably secured thereto. In testimonywhereof I ax my signature.
