IMPROVEMENT IN NECK-TIE FASTENINGS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 161,378, dated March 30, 1875; applicationfiled February 5, 1875.
T 0 all whom it may concern Be it known that I, EMILE BERLINER, of the city, county, and State of New York, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Neck-Tie Fastenings, of which the following is a specification:
My invention is an improvement in the class of neck-tie fasteniugs which consist of a metallic or wire loop, adapted to fit upon the neck or shank of a collar-button, and thus suspend the tie proper therefrom.
The improvement relates to constructing the loop to adapt it for attachment to the tie, as hereinafter fully described.
Figure l is an inside view of the neck-tie frame or support, showing the loop and cord attached thereto. Fig. 2 is a vertical section of the same, showing the neck-tie.
A is the frame of the neck-tie. B is the loop, and G is the elastic cord by which the loop is attached to the frame. The loop B is made of a single piece of wire, having its ends curved in opposite directions, upward and outward from the point of contact at D, and formed into an eye, as shown.
The form of the hooks f and the eyes 6 on the ends thereof, in conjunction with the pear shape of the body g of the loop B, renders the attachment of the elastic cord 0 a secure one, while permitting the cord to be conveniently and quickly connected and disconnected, as occasion requires. The contracted or angular top portion h of the loop B adapts it to properly fit the shank of the collar-button.
What I claim is A neck-tie shield provided with the loop B, having U-shaped portions ff, with eyes 0 e, and attaching-cord G, constructed. and arranged to operate substantially as and for the purpose specified.
EMILE BEBLINER.
