IMPROVEMENT IN FOLDING STOOLS, 8:0.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 16 1,063, dated March 23, 1875 application filed October 10, 1874.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, UNIOO H. W. SoHENoK, of Worcester, in the county of Worcester, State of Massachusetts, have invented certain Improvements in Folding Furniture, of which the following is a. specification:
My invention applies to cross-1egged chairs, bedsteads, and similar folding articles, and is designed to enable the legs, after being folded in the'common way, to be again folded up to the bars connecting their tops by means of joints, and a jointed brace connecting the side pieces or legs, in such a manner that. when open for use, the whole shall form a stifi-braced frame or support for the seat or top.
The accompanying drawings represent a camp chair or stool embodying my invention, Figure 1 showing a front view; Fig. 2, a side View; and Fig. 3, the same as Fig. 1, when closed and folded.
A A are the side pieces, crossed and pivoted at B, and hinged to the heads 0 G. D is a hinged brace, pivoted to one of each pair of side pieces, and having its hinge or middle joint made with a stop, so as to form a rigid brace when in position shown in Fig. 1, and when the side pieces A A are closed its middle joint folds by being moved toward the bars E E, and with pieces AA folds together, as in Fig. 3. The bars E E, which hold the seat or top, are held or supported by the heads G0.
