UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE,
GEORGE S. PIDGEON, OF PULASKI COUNTY, ILLINOIS.
IMPROVEMENT IN INSULATING-BLOCKS FOR TELEGRAPH-LINES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 1 61,058, dated March 23, 1875; application filed April 24, 1874.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, GEORGE S. PIDGEON, of Pulaski county, State of Illinois, have invented an Insulating-Block, of which the following is a specification:
The chief purpose of my invention is to prevent telegraph lines or wires running at angles or parallel to each other from coming in contact, and thereby interfering with their use and operation, and to insulate the same at the point or place between poles or fastenlugs where, from various causes, they are liable to touch each other.
The accompanying drawings, Figure 1, represent an insulating-block made of any suitable non-conductor, preferably glass, or of wood or metal, with insulating-tubes inserted in the holes I) c d.
The holes for receiving the wires may be Without side openings, as shown at d, or with openings for introducing the wires sidewise, as shown at f and m.
The holes for receiving and holding the wires should be equal in number, and have preferably the same relative position and direction to each other, as the wires to be inserted.
In lines all running parallel, the efficiency of the device will be increased by making one end of the block somewhat heavier than the other.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- 1. Au insulating-block provided with two or more apertures, 12 0 d, Fig. l, to receive and retain. wires to prevent crossing or contact.
2. The combination of the angular openings f with the apertures b c d in an insulatingblock having two or more apertures to receive and retain wires, all substantially as and for the purposes set forth.
GEORGE S. PIDGEON.
