L. R. GREENE.
POLE FOR ELECTRIC WIRES.
Wfigassas.
Patented Nov. 19', 1889.
IQX/Eq hJK UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
LEVI R. GREENE, OF BOSTON, MASSACHUSETTS.
POLE FOR ELECTRIC WIRES.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 415,324, dated November 19, 1889.
Application filed June 28, 1889.
To ail whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, LEvI RAWsoN GREENE, of Boston, in the county of Suffolk and State of Massachusetts, have invented a new and useful Pole for Electric ires and other Purposes, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, in which a sectional elevation of a pole embodying my invention is shown.
My invention consists of two or more lengths of pipe of dilferent diameters, the external diameter of the larger pipe being reduced at one end to equal that of the smaller pipe and the reduced end being welded to the unreduced end of the next section.
In the drawing I have shown a pole made of three sections A A A one end of section A being reduced so that its diameter equals that of A, and the two being then welded together in a manner now too well understood Serial No. 315,899. (No model.)
to require description. One end of section A is also reduced to fit the end of section A and they are also welded together. The three sections thus united form a pole Which is Very durable, not too heavy, is readily made, and can be given the taper desired by simple processes well known to those skilled in metal Working.
\Vhat I claim as my invention is The pole above described, made up of a plurality of pipes of different diameters, the larger being reduced at one end to the diameter of the smaller and the reduced end of one pipe being welded to the unreduced end of the next pipe, all substantially as described.
LEVI R. GREENE.
