My invention relates to toys and particularly to the type of toy mounted on wheels and has for its object to provide a toy having a body portion with limbs or members pivoted thereto, which limbs or members are mounted on wheels adapted to make the toy pass through grotesque motions and are adjustably positioned on said body portion so that the relation of the limbs or members to the body portion may be 'variedatwill so as to alter the relative movements of the toy.

In carrying out the objects of'the mvention I provide a pivot for said limbs or members whereby the same are held in frictional contact with the body so as to permit the limbs to be moved relative to the body, said friction pivots holding the limbs properly positioned in place when the toy is o erated.

The full objects and advantages my in vention will appear in connection'withthe detailed description thereof and are particularly pointed out in the claims.

In the form of the invention shown in Figure 1, I employ a body portion 10 in the shape of a bucking broncho which has pivoted to it at 11 and 12pairs of

legs

13 and 14. The method of attaching these legs is best shown in Figure 10. The end of-each of the

13 and 14 is'form'ed reduced in device similar v 13' and 14 by means of the friction between the portions l'i and 18 of said limbs and the body 10 adjustably positioned on said body ortion. Movement of the limbs 13 and 14: can ence be effected against the action of the -friction and may be consequently held in any desired position by. means of the same.

An axle 20 passes directly through both of the legs 13 and has pivotally attached to its ends in eccentric position'a pair of wheels -21 and 22.. Ina similar manner an axle 23 passes through legs 14 which has attached to it in

24 and 25. Pivoted on axle 23 is a draw bar 26 to which may be attached a string 27 for drawing the toy about on the floor. As the toy is drawn about on the floor the

In addition to the figure of the broncho I provide a rider 127 mounted on the back of the same which comprises a body 28 having a head 29 rigidly fastened thereto with one arm pivoted to said body at 31 and also pivoted to a portion of the body 10 of the animal at 32. The other arm 33 is loosely pivoted to the body 28 at 31 while a pair of legs'formed'of .two

33 and 34 are pivoted to each other at 25, to the'body 28 at 36 and to the body of the horse 10 at 37. The rider is hence capable of passing through a number of motions relative to the horse without becoming detached from the same. Two positions of the rider on the horse may be seen in Figures 2 and 3. To indicate the various relative positionsthat the limbs 13 reference may be had to Figures 2 and 3 which show the same in two extreme posit-ions. In Figure 2 the horse is shown as standing substantially on its hind legs in such a position'as to cause the rider to appear to fall 01?. In Figure 3 the horse is shown as having its legs spread apart as in the act Ill] A device adapted to be used for removing a Wheel from an axle upon Which it is keyed comprising a body provided at its opposite ends With alined sockets of different sizes, and anvil plugs fitting in the sockets.

A slidable lever 107 provided with a slot 108 which is movable on a screw 109 secured to wheel 104, has a finger 110 adapted to enga e into any of the various notches 106 in the disk 105 said member is moved into its engaging position. It can hence be clearl seen by rotating the axle 103 with the dis 105 thereon relative to the wheel 104 that when one of the corresponding notches 106 comes opposite the finger 110, said finger may be inserted into one of said notches to securely hold the device in place. This locking device, though not shown in detail in any of the drawings, can clearly be attached to any of the devices shown in which a single axle carries two wheels. The advantages of this form of the invention lie in the fact that any peculiar movement of the toy which appeals to the user may be maintained.'

The advantages of my invention are manifest. The various toysmay have their limbs set relatively to each other so as to give any manner of re etitions of the sameor similar movements 0 the toy as it is drawn about on the floor. When the user becomes tired of the present movements of the toy the limbs may be reset relative to the body so that an entirely new set of movements may be given to it. In this manner the user "will never .tire of the toy which in reality becomes a new toy having a different appearance and passing through different motions for each resetting of the limbs relative to the body. In accordance with the patent statutes, I

have described the principles of operation of my invention, together with the apparatus which I now consider to represent the best embodiment thereof, but I desire to have it understood that the construction shown is only illustrative and'that the invention can be carried out by other means and applied to uses other than those above scope of the following legs for holding the legs in frictional contact with said body and for pivoting the same and supporting wheels attached to the ends of said legs.

A toy comprising a body portion, members pivoted to said body portion, wheels mounted on said members, means associated with said wheels for causing said members to reciprocate-and means for holdin said members adj ustably positioned on said body portion throughout the movement of said wheels whereby the body portion can assume various grotesque positions and at the same time be reciprocated u and "down.

A'toy comprising a b0 y portion, members pivoted to said body portion, wheels mounted on said members, means associated with said wheels for causing said members to reciprocate and friction held means for holding said members in adjustable osi- 'tion on said body-portion whereby the ody portion can assume various grotesque positions and at the same time be reciprocated up and down.

4. A toy comprising a body portion, a plurality of members pivoted to said body portion, axles pivoted to said members, wheels eccentrically mounted on said axles, members ,fixed on said axles, a plurality of notches formed in said members, means slidably positioned on said wheels adapted to' engage said notches for holding the wheels in adjustable position on said axles and means for holdingthe members pivoted to said body portion adjustably.
