Description

UNITED STATES PATENT (DEEIoEo NATHANIEL PLYMPTON, OF BOSTON, MASSACHUSETTS, ASSIGNOB TO BRADLEY 85 HUBBARD, OF WEST MEBIDEN, CONNECTICUT.
IMPROVEMENT IN WINDOW-BRACKET HOOKS.
Specication forming part of Letters Patent No. 160,710, dated March 9, 1875; application filed January 7, 1875.
To all whom 'it may concern:
Be it known that I, NATEANIEL PLYMP- TON, of Boston, in the county of Suffolk and State of Massachusetts, have invented a new Window-Bracket; and I do hereby declare the following, when taken in connection with the accompanying drawings and the letters of reference marked thereon, to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same, and which said drawings constitute part of this specification, and represent perspective View.
This invention relates to an improvement in brackets de igned for suspending baskets, vases, &c., andfor like purposes, the object being to construct a bracket so as to be easily attached to the window-sash, or removed therefrom; and it consists in a bracket with a bifurcated base, combined with a thumb-screwin one division to clamp the part of the sash (or whatever it may be) between the end of the screw and the other division of the base, as more fully hereinafter described.
A is the one part, B the other part, of the divided base. In one part, A, is a thumbscrew, C, working toward and from the other part B. From the base an arm or brace, D, as the case may be, extends, terminating in, or provided with, a hook, E.
The bracket is attached by setting the two ends A B one above and the other below the part of the sash to which it is to be attached, and the screw turned upon the sash to clamp the bracket in that position, holding it irmly there, and thus affording a neat and tasteful device for the support of vases and similar Window ornaments.
For the purpose of insuring a perpendicular position of the bracket the division opposite the screw is divided and spread, as seen in the drawing.
I claim- The herein-described bracket, consisting of a supporting-arm, D, the bifurcated base B, and the clamping-screw C, substantially as described.
N ATHL. PLYMPTON.
